Korean Baseball Player slides into home with batter swinging

Well this is a new one for me. On Monday, a player in Korea slid into home plate in the ninth inning of a one-run game with the bases loaded, two outs, and the count full. Oh, and the batter was swinging at the pitch.Bases loaded, full count and a one-run game in the ninth inning. The baserunners of the LG Twins were in motion as the NC Dinos searched for the final out (great names, by the way), and the guy on third base tries his best to legitimately steal home. So well, in fact, that he slid in a split second after the batter was swinging. While the batter is swinging. And he trips the batter as he is trying to leave the box after hitting the ball.

Video Robinson Cano Pranks Booing Yankee Fans 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon'

Yankees fans will probably give Robinson Cano a hard time when he returns to the Bronx on Tuesday, but they may not act so tough if they see him on the street. On Monday, Cano made an appearance on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,' where he hid behind a cardboard cutout of his face in a New York City park as fans booed the picture of him. Cano would then pop out from behind the photo and surprise the bitter fans, who suddenly became very friendly with the Mariners second baseman."Tonight Show," Jimmy Fallon gave fans in New York a chance to boo a large photo of the superstar second baseman. What they didn't know was that Cano was standing just behind it.In addition to sitting down for an interview with Fallon, Cano participated in a skit on the streets of New York where he surprised Yankees fans who thought they were merely booing a cardboard cutout of him.

UFC 172: Jon Jones vs Glover Teixeira Full Fight - UFC Light Heavyweight Title Match

Tonight (April 26, 2014) Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight gold will be on the line when champion Jon Jones squares off with Glover Teixeira in the pay-per-view (PPV) main event of UFC 172, airing live at 10 p.m. EST from Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.Jones comes into the bout with a record of 19-1-0 although technically he is still undefeated during a fight in a professional MMA match up – the one mark on his perfect record was a 2009 DQ loss to Mark Hamill when he was disqualified for throwing an illegal downward elbow. He was easily winning the match at the time he was DQ. However, his opponent tonight is no slouch and will provide a stiff challenge for the champ. Glover Teixeira comes into the title fight with a 22-2-0 record and has won his past 20 straight fights. He has not loss for nearly a decade, since 2005, and when he last did lose it was when he was a complete rookie in just his fourth pro fight, and still learning the ropes. There's a lot to like about this match-up. Obviously, it's another chapter in the tale of Jon Jones, who has quickly established himself as one of the sport's all time greats despite his relatively small number of years in the cage. But this is more than just the story of Jones. Stylistically, it's an intriguing match-up, as both men are quite well rounded. The result is a fight where it's very hard to predict exactly how it will play out. This could be a stand-up war, or it could be a grinding battle on the ground. No matter how it goes, it should make for a great World Title fight.

Video Jean Segura leaves game with head injury

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Jean Segura suffered a freak injury on Saturday night, getting hit in the face by Ryan Braun in the team's dugout.A television replay showed Segura apparently getting hit accidentally on the right side of his head with a bat being swung by teammate Ryan Braun, who was facing the field and warming up on the dugout steps while Segura was starting to come up the steps behind him. Segura had to be helped to the clubhouse. There is no word yet as to the severity of the injury, but Segura could easily be looking at a stint on the DL. The Brewers’ radio broadcast also reported he hyper-extended his thumb during batting practice, though that injury would not have been enough to keep him out of Saturday’s game.Segura was replaced by Jeff Bianchi. Milwaukee has yet to make an official announcement on Segura's status.

Nene Vs Jimmy Butler Fight - Bulls vs Wizards Game 3 (Video)

Washington Wizards big man Nene was ejected from Game 3 on Friday night after head-butting Chicago Bulls swingman Jimmy Butler and grabbing the back of his neck. Butler was assessed a technical foul for his role in the fracas.Nene grabbed at Butler's head, like a boxer grabbing his opponent to prepare for a big uppercut, and even appeared to ball a fist at one point. Both players were assessed technicals, but after a review Nene was disqualified for the head contact.Butler didn’t like it, so Nene got right in his face with a little headbutt and neck grab. He was ejected from the game and the league will likely review it for further discipline. Another issue is that a few players may have come off the bench to try helping their teammates during the scrap, so the league will likely take a look at that too.

Michael Pineda ejected for having pine tar on neck (Video)

Michael Pineda was ejected in the second inning of Wednesday night's game against the Boston Red Sox for having pine tar on his neck. Red Sox manager John Farrell complained to umpires, who then checked Pineda for foreign substances and found the pine tar on his neck, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. As you can see below, home plate umpire Gerry Davis touches Pineda's neck and immediately tosses him:Pine tar was discovered on Pineda's neck in the bottom of the second inning, a frame after he gave up two earned runs to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead. With two outs and a 1-2 count on Grady Sizemore, Farrell came out of the dugout to alert the umpiring crew of a dark-brown substance on the right side of Pineda's neck. As Bob Nightengale of USA Today noted, the crew first examined the ball Pineda was using and then his neck before home-plate umpire Gerry Davis sent him to the showers.Though pine tar is technically an illegal substance for pitchers, few in baseball really care, as long as a pitcher doesn't make it obvious. Pineda did not try to hide it at all, and Farrell took the opportunity to make Joe Girardi go to his bullpen early.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley II Full Fight (WBO Welterweight Title Fight)

On Saturday night, Manny Pacquiao (No. 3 on SI.com's latest pound-for-pound list) will take on Timothy Bradley (No. 8) for Bradley's WBO welterweight title at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The fight will be televised on HBO Pay Per View for a suggested retail price of $59.95.The main event will start a little after 11:30 p.m. ET. Nearly two years later, Manny Pacquiao finally got the decision most people thought he deserved the first time against Timothy Bradley.Pacquiao won a unanimous decision in his rematch with Bradley on Saturday night, avenging his 2012 loss and claiming the WBO welterweight title. Pacquiao (56-5-2) pursued and peppered the previously unbeaten Bradley around the MGM Grand Garden ring with an aggressive effort occasionally recalling the Pacman in his prime. Bradley fought back with counterpunching and elusiveness, but Pacquiao kept up his attack while Bradley (31-1) struggled down the stretch. The first round of feeling out each other quickly became a brawl in the second, when Pacquiao landed several big shots. That pace continued in the third, somewhat amazingly with the postmatch news that Bradley had hurt his leg in the first. Pacquiao's opening pace seemed to catch up with him in the fourth, and Bradley got to him for solid shots at least three times. The rounds Bradley got from the judges came at this point in the fight. In the fifth, Bradley connected more again and the fight got closer. Then Bradley ended the round by uncharacteristically hotdogging the last 10 seconds, arms at his side. At this point, Pacquiao, who praised Bradley as being a better fighter now than in the first match, said he and his corner began to understand that Bradley was going for the "home run punch."Unfortunately, such tactics didn't work for Bradley, who allowed the fight to get away from him, while his corner's demands to do things "quicker" seemingly fell on deaf ears. Pacquiao, who famously beat Ricky Hatton with a stunning second-round knockout, increasingly took control of the fight, picking his moments to throw flurries of punches, before looking to create new angles and keeping away from Bradley's haymaker attempts. In the end, the Filipino's in-ring intelligence kept him away from danger, and spurred on by a partisan crowd he began landing combinations down the home straight, ensuring a somewhat comfortable win.

Roy Nelson KO's Minotauro Nogueira UFC Fight Night 39

The main event of UFC Fight Night 39 is finally upon us, and we have a great Heavyweight clash in store. Former UFC interim Heavyweight champion, Minotauro Nogueira, returns to the Octagon after a nine month sabbatical to take on the heavy handed Roy Nelson. Minotauro Nogueira has not fought since June of last year, where he was submitted by Fabricio Werdum in Brazil. Nogueira has exchanged wins and losses in his last eight fights. While he is certainly on the downside of his career, Nogueira is still extremely dangerous and a bonafide MMA legend.Big Nog tried walking Nelson down in the beginning of the 1st round, but it was Nelson who struck first blood, landing that clubbing right hand early on Nogueira. On this occasion, he did not rush in to look for the quick finish. Nogueira soon recovered and they resumed a fight that was contested entirely on the feet. The two grapplers decided stand and trade punches for all of the nearly three minutes that their bout lasted and Nelson's power proved to be superior as he scored a walk-off KO win over the Brazilian. The round began with the taller Nogueira pumping his lead jab out at Nelson as the corpulent warrior covered up, crouched and bobbed. After about one minute, Nelson landed his first overhand right, dropping "Big Nog," to the canvas. The submission ace seemed to regain his bearings immediately as he looked up at Nelson from an open guard. When they returned to their feet, it was more of the same - Nogueira confidently pumping his jab, catching mostly air, and Nelson bobbing and weaving out of danger. Nelson got inside and took advantage of Nogueira's low hands once more with an overhand to the chin, knocking the former Pride and UFC champ down again. Nogueira got back to his feet but it was clear that he was done as he wobbled back and forth before taking one more blast to the chin, putting him down, cold and out for good - his arms and legs stretched out, stiffly. For Big Nog, it was probably should be the final fight of his career. Nog turns 38 in June and has dropped two straight, 3 of 4, 4 of 6 and 5 of 8 with 3 of those losses coming by knockout.

Stevie Nicks Performs ‘Edge Of Seventeen’ On Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon 4/9/14

Even the surviving members of Nirvana can’t outshine Stevie Nicks. The Fleetwood Mac singer served as the musical guest on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and she did not disappoint. With Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic looking on, Nicks teamed with Fallon to spoof her video with Tom Petty for “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around”. Later on, she offered a more traditional music performance, offering a dazzling rendition of “Edge of Seventeen” accompanied by The Roots. The song was originally done by Tom Petty and Nicks in 1981. Some of you may remember the days when this song and video were in constant rotation. Some of you are no doubt going "WHO THE HELL IS TOM PETTY OMG WHY IS THAT VIDEO SO FUZZY WTF." I will not judge you for this.Stevie still singing the classics, good for her. Stevie Nicks will tour with her original band Fleetwood Mac starting September 20, 2014 in Minneapolis.

Pirates fan catches foul ball in tub of popcorn (Video)

During the third inning of the game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on Friday, April 4, one fan made a catch he probably won't forget. Whether it be catching a ball one-handed while protecting a baby, catching the ball in your beer and then chugging it or simply making a diving grab, fans show off some top-notch reflexes when they see the ball coming. The fan didn’t have a hat or a glove handy, so he did the next best thing and used his popcorn to catch the foul ball. The bucket exploded and popcorn went everywhere, but it looks like he made a successful catch.

Derek Jeter gives ball to young fan

When Derek Jeter made the final out of an inning in Houston during Thursday night's game against the Astros, he had a critical decision to make: who gets the ball?Jeter's no slouch. He's been doing this for years.A young girl in a Jeter jersey caught his eye and he made the effort to get the ball to her.But between the man in the front row pleading for the ball and the woman in an Astros jersey trying to rip it out of his clutches, this was not an easy task.Jeter pointed her out as he was walking over, but one fan chose to ignore the Yankee Captain and tried to take the ball for herself. Jeter, making sure the young girl would get the ball, had to pull his hand back from the desperate Astros fan three different times before he was able to deliver the souvenir for the kid.Jeter had one hit, one RBI and one save - for the young fan in the stands. Maybe we'd be like this guy to the left of our Astros fan, who steals a high five from Jeter when the Captain's hand is on the way down. Or, maybe we'd sit quietly in the back with a tallboy Bud Light in a pink beer koozie.Okay, you're right, we probably wouldn't, but someone had to bring attention to that beer koozie.

Central Arkansas and Arkansas-Little Rock Massive Fight (Video)

A massive brawl erupted Wednesday night in the 10th inning of a baseball game between Central Arkansas and Arkansas-Little Rock. The melee, which was captured in several videos posted online, was touched off after an argument on the infield, just feet in front of the plate, between Arkansas-Little Rock coach Scott Norwood and Central Arkansas coach Allen Gum, which resulted in Norwood face-first in the dirt with players quickly converging. Video of the incident taken from several angles in the stands shows the two coaches yelling at each other from across the diamond and eventually reaching one another at the front of the infield before coming nose to nose as umpires attempt to separate them. Another coach or player from Central Arkansas can then be seen approaching and shoving Norwood to the ground. As Norwood spins and lands face-first in the dirt, the brawl begins, and players start shoving each other en masse. No injuries were reported and the game was delayed for a full 20 minutes.Central Arkansas would go on to win in 11 innings. No one involved, however, will win when a governing body gets its hands on this footage.Penalties will surely be harsh.
