Referee Rick Crawford Knocked On Opening Tip of Vanderbilt vs La Salle

Tonight's Vanderbilt-La Salle game in Brooklyn faced a lengthy delay just after the opening tip when referee Rick Crawford took an elbow to the head and immediately collapsed onto the floor.A Barclays Center spokesperson said Crawford was being taken to Brooklyn Hospital, and could move his fingers.Crawford threw the ball up for the opening tipoff and as Dack came down, it appeared as if his arm struck the 19-year official flush on the face.He had bruising over his right eye, and his neck was in a brace.Crawford immediately fell to the court, and was tended to by trainers and medical professionals for roughly 10 minutes before being stretchered off the court.Crawford immediately fell to the court, and was tended to by trainers and medical professionals for roughly 10 minutes before being stretchered off the court. Dwayne Harris' ridiculous cheap shot In Eagles-Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys were clearly frustrated, down by 23 points to the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth quarter at AT&T Stadium Thursday, but this was a bit uncalled for. While Eagles punt returner Nolan Carroll was watching the ball late in Philadelphia's 33-10 win, Dwayne Harris leveled him, sparking a scuffle between the two teams. Harris wasn’t too happy about the scoreboard, so as an Eagles punt soared his way, he decided to take his frustrations out on Philadelphia’s Nolan Carroll. Harris was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play, and not surprisingly, his cheap shot didn’t go over well with Carroll and the Eagles. The hit didn’t do anything except exorcise some frustrations that had to be brewing from having a division rival come into your stadium and punk you in front of a national television audience. The dirty shot was the most punishing hit any of the Cowboys players managed to put on the Eagles all game, hence the lopsided result. If anything, it seemed like Philly should have won by five touchdowns.

Siberian passengers push frozen plane to runway (video)

Freezing temperatures didn’t stop intrepid passengers from helping out a Russian plane that couldn’t move, because its wheels were frozen to the ground. However, brute force won the day in a remote Siberian town beyond the Arctic Circle. 74 passengers, who were on board, offered the seven-member crew and technical staff to help move the frozen Tupolev Tu-134 plane to the takeoff runway on Tuesday, a spokeswoman for the UTair company told TASS. Passengers on a flight in Siberia were asked to do just that on Tuesday when temperatures dropped to -52 at the Igarka airport, according to LifeNews. And as the clip above shows, pushing a frozen plane is apparently no big deal over there -- because the passengers handled it the way most of us would handle pushing a car stuck in the mud. "Due to the low air temperatures, the chassis's brake system froze and a tow truck was unable to move the plane onto the taxiway to carry out the flight," prosecutors confirmed in a statement. "The passengers on board got out of the plane and started pushing it onto the taxiway." Even for Russians inured to long winters of sub-zero temperatures, the passengers' can-do chutzpah has drawn awed admiration.

Odell Beckham Jr Makes ONE-HANDED Amazing Catch vs. Cowboys

Forget about the catch of the year. This grab by New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is one of the best you will ever see. On the first play of the second quarter of Sunday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium, Beckham connected on a pass from quarterback Eli Manning that has to be seen to be believed. It was the first play of the second quarter, a first-down play from the Dallas Cowboys' 43-yard line. Giants quarterback Eli Manning rolled out to his right and found Beckham sprinting down the right sideline, covered by Cowboys defensive backs. Manning fired the ball in Beckham's direction, possibly hoping for a pass-interference call, which was indeed made as Beckham was interfered with in his effort to make the leaping catch. It was Beckham's second touchdown catch of the night, which account for just his fourth and fifth TD catches of the entire season. The 22-year-old rookie out of LSU is making quite a splash his first year in the league.

Manny Pacquiao defeats Chris Algieri WBC Title Fight

MACAU – During the build-up to his fight with Manny Pacquiao, actor Sylvester Stallone called Chris Algieri "a real-life Rocky." And, as it turns out, he was. Just like Stallone's fictional Rocky Balboa didn't win the title in "Rocky," Algieri came up short as well. Manny Pacquiao knocked Algieri down six times Saturday and was never threatened as he cruised to a laughably easy unanimous decision victory before a sell-out crowd of 13,202 in their bout for the WBO welterweight title at Cotai Arena. Pacquiao opens southpaw while Algieri is orthodox. Pacquiao attacking early with left hands in the center of the ring against a largely defensive Algieri. Strong right hook, too, by Pacquiao.eft hook by Algieri, but his eye is swelling up. Pacquiao trying to flurry at the end of Algieri's punches. Left hand shot puts Algieri down. He says it's a slip, but given a ten count, anyway. Pacquiao is pressuring and finally scores a left hand, but Algieri's defensive fundamentals are strong. Right hand just misses for Algieri. Pacquiao looking to score when Algieri is against the ropes, but Algieri is on the move.In the thrilling Provodnikov brawl, Algieri survived two brutal knockdowns in the first round. His right eye was soon completely closed, but he soldiered on, showing tremendous grit and poise and more than that-the ability to make adjustments in the heat of battle. The difference between Provodnikov and Pacquiao is the Pacman’s dazzling footwork. When Pacquiao is on, he is a vapor, moving in and out and much more importantly, side to side – always firing multiple combinations from different angles. In December 2012 Pacquiao was on his way to ko victory when he was put to sleep by a devastating right hand from Juan Manuel Marquez. Manny took some time off after that loss but then returned to throttle Brandon Rios and then, last year, to avenge his controversial loss to Tim Bradley with a unanimous decision. Algieri has the edge in years. At 30 he is five years younger than his legendary opponent. However, when it comes to experience, Pacquiao is in a different league. Pacquiao is a veteran of 63 fights – Algieri a mere 20. More importantly, Pacquiao has been the big stage for years now. He has tussled with everyone, except, of course, Floyd Mayweather Jr.Over the course of 12 rounds, Manny Pacquiao absolutely destroyed Chris Algieri, knocking him down 6 times to take a wildly lopsided unanimous decision victory. Algieri's corner claimed that the plan was to let Pacquiao get ahead and then KO him late in the fight. If so, that's an insane plan. Whatever the plan was, it failed, as Algierir did not use the jab and high volume punching that have brought him success in the past. For his part, Pacquiao showed off very nice power - the kind of power many have felt has been missing from the legend in recent years. He may not have gotten the knockdown.cquiao showing no signs of slowing down, although Algieri is moving well, too. Pacquiao lands an uppercut as Algieri scores with a right hook. Pacquiao tries to batter Algieri against the ropes, but the American evades. The round basically ends at that point with Pacquiao pushing forward and Algieri backtracking.

Florida State's Jameis Winston pushes referee out of the way

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston really wanted to snap the ball and moved an official out of the way to do so. The Seminoles had just completed a six-yard pass on first down and wanted to hurry to the line on second down after the ball was spotted. But since FSU had substituted, Boston College was allowed by rule the opportunity to substitute as well.During Saturday's game against the Boston College Eagles, Winston was trying to get under center, but a referee was in the way. Winston pushed the official out of the way and was somehow not penalized for doing so.This is something that is not allowed, and to prevent it from happening, the referee will commonly stand behind the center until the defense is set. He will then move out of the way. But nothing can stand between Winston and his pigskin, so instead of patiently waiting for the ref to move out of the way, Winston tried to physically remove him from his position. Winston was not called for a penalty for his actions, and honestly I'm OK with that, but had this official wanted to, he could have tossed Winston from the game. It'll be interesting to see what, if any, punishment the ACC may hand out for this.FSU coach Jimbo Fisher supported his QB, adding the incident was forgotten by the time Winston next came off the field: "He doesn't even remember [when he comes to the sideline]. When I yell at players, five minutes later, I don't remember who I yelled at. You move on to the next thing."

Three-Word Stories with Benedict Cumberbatch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this Monday evening, Fallon started off the week with a fantastic show. His guests included his special guest, actor and comedian Jim Carrey, the English actor and star of the BBC series, Sherlock, Benedict Cumberbatch, who he will play the game Three Word Stories with later in the show, and actress Allison Williams, who will be Peter Pan in the NBC production Peter Pan Live! The musical guest of the Tonight Show was supposed to be the rock group, U2, but they will be unable to appear. During the show, the 38-year-old English actor chatted about photobombing U2 at the 2014 Oscars and played a game with host Jimmy Fallon. Jimmy and Benedict Cumberbatch take turns telling stories three words at a time to get each other to guess a mystery word. While Fallon had the task of getting the Sherlock star to say unicorn, his British opponent had the tougher assignment of getting Fallon to say ‘booty’ – and let’s just say he didn’t go down the pirate’s treasure route… We feverishly await more examples of Cumberbatch showing just why he’s possibly the greatest human being ever.

New Orleans Saints black Fan Steals football From white Female Bengals Fan

After Cincinnati Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham caught a touchdown pass in the third quarter of Sunday's game in New Orleans, he spotted a Bengals fan in the front row and decided to toss her the football. She never received the ball, though, thanks to the Saints fan next to her.Cincinnati Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham scored his second touchdown of the game to put the Bengals up 20-3 over the Saints, when he found a nice lady in an A.J. Green jersey eagerly waiting to get her hands on the gameball. But the Saints fan intercepted the pass and refused to give the ball back to its rightful owner, no matter how much she begged. So not only did this Saints fan grab a ball that clearly wasn't meant for him, he also outmuscled a woman, seemingly giving her a glancing elbow in the head as he swung his arms to grab the ball (that's a technical foul both in college football and in life).

Ovince Saint Preux def. Mauricio Rua by TKO Round 1

Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua told Sporting News earlier this week that he had no plans to retire after losing three of his last four fights heading into tonight's UFC Fight Night 56 main event against Ovince St. Preux. Rua might reconsider that thought as he was viciously knocked out by St. Preux 0:34 into the first round. Both fighters exchanged leg kicks to open the fight. Rua went for an overhand right and missed. St. Preux slipped the overhand right and threw a left hook that dropped the Brazilian. St.Preux pounced on a fallen Rua with ground and pound punches and referee Mario Yamasaki gave Rua a chance to defend himself. Rua wasn't able to intelligently defend himself and Yamasaki stopped the fight. With the victory, St. Preux makes it 4-1 in the UFC and moves to 17-6. He puts his loss to Ryan Bader at UFC Fight Night 47 in Bangor, Maine behind him, and drops Rua to 22-10. The 32-year old Rua has now lost four of five fights overall in the UFC. Though St. Preux said he wouldn't engage in a brawl with Rua, he managed to put the Brazilian legend away with a well-timed counter left. It was the only finish on a main card dominated by distance fights. With the flyweight bout between Ian McCall and John Lineker cancelled, in the makeshift co-main event The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 winner Warlley Alves came out storming against Alan Jouban. Though he couldn't get the finish -- and though he faded down the stretch -- Alves did enough in the judge's eyes to defeat the Louisiana native away via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).With the Brazilian grounded, and cornered against the fence, St. Preux unloaded with a machine-gun flurry of punches until referee Mario Yamasaki stepped in to stop the main event contest. It only took 34 seconds.“I’m still going to be a big ‘Shogun’ fan, but it’s one of those things – in order to become a legend, you’ve got to beat a legend, so that’s what I did that tonight,” St. Preux said following the most impressive victory of his career. Saint Preux landed a perfect punch early in the first round and stopped Rua just 34 seconds to silence the crowd at Ginasio Municipal Tancredo Neves in Uberlandia, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Celtics' Marcus Smart carted off floor with leg injury vs. Pacers

Medical personnel wheeled Marcus Smart off the court on a stretcher tonight after the Celtics rookie severely rolled his ankle early in the fourth quarter of tonight's game against the Pacers in Boston. It was so bad that Smart stayed on the floor yelling in pain, and a stretcher had to be brought out for him before he was eventually taken off the court on it. He was injured by Pacers guard A.J. Price going to the rim, and he fell on Lavoy Allen's foot coming down, causing the ankle to roll. The game was tied at 75 when the play occurred. The Boston crowd was deathly silent when the play occurred, as it quickly became evident that Smart was seriously injured. After more than five minutes with Boston's medical team on the court, Smart was stabilized on a stretcher and wheeled into the locker room. The Oklahoma State product finished with three points on 1-of-6 shooting in 15 1/2 minutes of action.

Daniel Winnik taken off ice on a stretcher (Daniel Winnik Injured)

Toronto Maple Leafs center Daniel Winnik was knocked down after taking a hit by Colorado Avalanche defenseman Jan Hejda during the first period of a game at the Pepsi Center in Denver on Thursday night.Winnik took a heavy hit from Colorado Avalanche defenseman Jan Hejda and fell to the Pepsi Center ice on his head. Winnik laid there motionless and needed to leave the ice on a stretcher.Winnik didn't appear to be moving as he lay on the ice and was being attended to by medical staff, but he was blinking his eyes and moving the fingers on his right hand after being strapped to the stretcher. "After I just watched it I didn’t think it was that bad," Carlyle said. "The bad part about it was he was out of it. He didn’t move. That left everybody gasping. After reviewing it, he did twist his neck, but the brunt of the weight of his body seemed to roll onto his shoulder and back. Yeah, he banged his head, but I think he was fortunate. He’s fine. He says there’s nothing wrong with him." The Maple Leafs were relieved to see Winnik walking around in the locker room when they entered for the first intermission.Winnik was alert and moving after his exit, according to the Leafs; he'd gone airborne, flipped and hit his head after an open-ice hit by Avalanche defenseman Jan Hejda. Winnik chipped the puck along the boards a split-second earlier. While it was scary to see Winnik on the ice motionless, the good news is that he appears to be recovering well. Shortly after being taken away on a stretcher, the Maple Leafs announced that Winnik was alert and moving. That is obviously a very positive sign, but there is no official word on his diagnosis.

Gordon Hayward's game-winning buzzer-beater vs Cavs

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- The blues for the Cleveland Cavaliers continued Wednesday night as Gordon Hayward nailed a game-winning step-back jumper at the buzzer to lift the Utah Jazz to a 102-100 victory. Hayward finished the game with 21 points and Derrick Favors added 21 points as well to go with 10 rebounds. Before the game Cavaliers coach David Blatt said it would take some time to gel, but this can't be what he had in mind. Hayward hit a jumper over Tristan Thompson after LeBron fell down trying to get over a screen. Plenty of attention will be paid to the Cavaliers – especially their passing and assist numbers – tomorrow, but for now, celebrate Gordon Hayward. It’s always tough to win in Salt Lake City because the fans are relentless and the altitude thins the air, and the Cavaliers took a blowout loss last night at the Portland Trail Blazers. But this loss wasn’t about teaching lessons. It’s a game against a team that probably won’t even come close to a playoff berth, and the Cavs probably should have won it but got little from anyone other than James and Kyrie Irving (34 points).

Record-Breaking Daredevil Nik Wallenda Blindfolded Tightrope Walk Between Chicago Skyscrapers

CHICAGO – Daredevil Nik Wallenda wowed Chicago and the world Sunday with two hair-raising skyscraper crossings on the high wire without a safety net or a harness. Thousands of cheering fans packed the streets around the city's Marina City towers to watch the 35-year-old heir to the Flying Wallendas' family business complete the back-to-back walks including one wearing a blindfold. As he stepped from the wire after completing the second leg, he tore off his blindfold and waved to the crowd of thousands below who erupted in cheers. The spectacle was telecast almost-live on the Discovery Channel so producers could cut away if Wallenda fell. Wearing a bright red jacket, Wallenda tested the tension of the wire around 6 p.m. It took him about six and a half minutes to walk the wire at a 19-degree incline from the Marina City west tower to the top of a building on the other side of a river.Crowds teemed through Downtown, with thousands corralled on Wacker Drive, and others watching from the warmth of office buildings and, of course, condos in Marina City. While crowds waited - Wallenda's first step took place 90 minutes after the Discovery Channel broadcast began - helicopters zipped overhead. An enterprising man tried to sell passersby a seat he'd commandeered near a bus stop. When finally Wallenda took his first steps on the wire, cheers erupted from the streets and flashbulbs popped. He swiftly made his way across the 454-foot gap, pausing briefly twice. The 15-degree incline - some 80 feet or so - appeared to slow him. The daredevil then put on a blindfold and walked — at a height of 543 feet — a wire between the two Marina City towers, the corn cob-looking high rises built by the famed Chicago architect Bertrand Goldberg. Wallenda — who has tightroped over the Little Colorado River Gorge and Niagara Falls — said his blindfolded walk is the most dangerous stunt he's ever attempted. "There were some strong winds that hit me in the face," Wallenda told reporters after completing the stunts. "It stood me up straight."

Keselowski and Gordon Post-Race Brawl

Afight between Jeff Gordon and Brad Keselowski broke out on pit road following the NASCAR race Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway. Upset with Keselowski, Gordon stopped on pit road and quickly got out of his car and proceeded to confront Keselowski. A shoving match then ensued with both Keselowski and Gordon emerging with cuts on their faces.Brad Keselowski is once again at the center of a NASCAR brawl as his squad traded punches with Jeff Gordon's in another display of stock car racing hilarity at Texas Motor Speedway. We'd say they should just duke it out on the track, but honestly, a fistfight might be safer than racing.

Ole Miss WR Laquon Treadwell leg injury

Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell left Saturday night's loss to Auburn after suffering gruesome injury to his lower left leg while fighting to cross the goal line for a potential go-ahead touchdown. Not only did the Rebels see their star, who led the team with 10 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown, leave the game in pain, but a subsequent review of the play showed that Treadwell fumbled the ball in the end zone with an Auburn player recovering the loose ball.Treadwell caught a screen pass with 1:30 left to play and was pulled down from behind just as he was about to cross the goal line. The play was originally ruled a touchdown, appearing to give the Rebels the lead. The call was overturned after a video review and ruled a fumble, with a recovery by Auburn.Ole Miss lost 35-31 and, likely, has been eliminated from the college football playoff race. Terrible fortune for a promising young receiver. That was Ole Miss’ second fumble inside the Auburn 10 in the 4th quarter.

Connor Halliday Suffers Gruesome Leg Injury WSU-USC Game

Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday, who leads the nation in passing yardage and who earlier this season broke the NCAA record for single-game passing, left today's game against USC early after suffering what appears to be a severe leg injury. Halliday's injury occured when his leg was rolled up on by a couple of lineman. He lay on the ground in obvious pain afterward and was tended to by athletic trainers, which placed him in an air cast, loaded him into a cart and took him back to the locker room. After the play was over, Halliday was seen screaming in agony on the field before eventually being carted off with an air cast on the leg. It’s a tough break for a promising young quarterback who was turning out to be a legitimate NFL talent. Now he’ll likely to have to spend much of the next year rehabbing his leg.
