Edmonton Oilers rookie phenom Connor McDavid left Tuesday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers with a suspected shoulder injury that will keep him out of the lineup "long term," according to head coach Todd McLellan.
McLellan confirmed that McDavid suffered an upper-body injury that will take time to heal.
McDavid, the 18-year-old phenom Edmonton selected first overall in June, slammed into the boards in a scary collision. His arm was positioned awkwardly and it looks like he jammed his left shoulder. McDavid immediately left the game and was favoring his left arm.
McDavid left the ice favouring his left shoulder. He was seen wearing a sling in the hallway behind the dressing room and did not return for the third period.
