Mark Hunt vs. Antonio Silva Full Fight UFC Fight Night 33

In the main event at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs Bigfoot, former K-1 champion Mark Hunt (9-8 MMA; 4-2 UFC) faces Antonio Silva (18-5 MMA; 2-2 UFC). This 5 round Heavyweight fight headlines the event. The UFC Rankings have Bigfoot as the #4 contender at Heavyweight, with Hunt unranked. UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs Bigfoot airs live from Brisbane, Australia this weekend on Fox Sports 1. One very important note: because of the time change from Australia, this card will air live in the US on FRIDAY night, December 6 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.Hunt has had an up-and-down past few years in mixed martial arts (MMA). He lost his last bout in spectacular fashion when former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos knocked him out with a spinning heel kick at UFC 160 in May. Prior to that, "Super Samoan" had racked up a four-fight win streak and was knocking on the door of title contention. There’s no doubt he’s one of the most powerful and exciting fighters in UFC today. He has a golden opportunity to prove he can beat top heavyweights when he steps into the Octagon to face Silva.Hunt rose into title contention during 2013, winning four straight fights. However, in a May bout opposite Junior dos Santos, Hunt ran into a rare opponent who was capable of striking with him. While a knockout loss to Dos Santos set Hunt back, he has a chance to rebound in a big way against Silva on Friday in Australia. Ahead of this important heavyweight matchup, here is a closer look at how Silva and Hunt match up in all areas.

UFC TUF 18 Finale Fight Nate Diaz Vs Gray Maynard Fight

When Gray Maynard steps inside the Octagon tonight (Sat., Nov. 30, 2013) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, to take on Nate Diaz in a lightweight main event of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18 Finale, it won't be the first time the two have squared off.In fact, it won't even be the second. This fight caps off an odd sort of trilogy from Maynard and Diaz dating back to 2007. Both men came into the UFC through season 5 of The Ultimate Fighter. In that season, Diaz defeated Maynard by submission on the show before going on to become the TUF Season 5 champion. For years, that "exhibition" fight was the only blemish on Maynard's career. He avenged the loss in an official fight in 2010, taking a split decision win. Now, they look to conclude the trilogy and definitively prove who is the better fighter. In the main event, Gray Maynard will square off against Nate Diaz in a lightweight contest. Julianna Pena will face Jessica Rakoczy in the co-main event for the women's TUF 18 title.

Bill Belichick Rips Welker Over Hit On Talib AFC Championship

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots coach Bill Belichick called Wes Welker's collision Sunday with New England cornerback Aqib Talib "one of the worst plays I've seen," a sharp critique of the actions of one of his former stars. Belichick delivered the comments roughly one minute into his news conference at Gillette Stadium on Monday morning, less than 24 hours after the Patriots fell to the Denver Broncos 26-16 in the AFC Championship Game. Belichick's criticism was unprovoked, part of the coach's opening remarks, and stands as stinging commentary from a man who usually limits what he provides in a public forum."It was a deliberate play by the receiver to take out Aqib. No attempt to get open," Belichick said. "I'll let the league handle the discipline on that play, whatever they decide. It's one of the worst plays I've seen. That's all I'll say about that." The play that will now be talked about for years to come occurred in the second quarter Sunday. With the Broncos in the early portions of a drive that would put them up 10-0, Welker streaked through the middle of the field and smacked into a crossing Talib, who left with a knee injury and did not return."I was asked about the hit on Talib, and I feel badly for Aqib. The way that play turned out, I went back and watched it, which I didn't have a chance to yesterday. It was a deliberate play by the receiver to take out Aqib," Belichick said on Monday. "No attempt to get open. I'll let the league handle the discipline on that play. It's not for me to decide but it's one of the worst plays I've seen. That's all I'll say about that."The defense, just as it did when Talib was injured in the AFC title game a year ago, could not recover and Peyton Manning started picking it apart. Talib suffered a knee injury on a collision with Welker as he attempted to cover Demaryius Thomas on a crossing pattern early in the second quarter. Talib did not return to the game. After the game, Welker was asked about the play and said, “I think he was thinking the same thing and wanted to come underneath and we just kind of collided. … It wasn’t a deal where I was trying to hit him or anything like that.” Belichick's relationship with Welker dissipated toward the end of the receiver's six-year run with the Patriots, and the slot machine signed a two-year deal with the Broncos last offseason. They shared a very brief exchange after yesterday's game, though Welker did hug Robert Kraft during pregame warmups. It was obvious today Belichick didn't take too kindly to Welker when he only referred to him as "the receiver." Another point that shouldn't be lost: Belichick went all-out to defend Talib, who has become an in-house favorite in his season and a half with the Patriots, and the cornerback will be a free agent again this offseason. But that's for another time. For today, Belichick didn't pull any punches while publicly admonishing one of the most productive players of his coaching career.

NEW Little Things One Direction’s At iHeart Radio Album Release Party

Friday afternoon (Nov. 22), One Direction celebrated the release of "Midnight Memories" with a show at L.A.’s new iHeartRadio venue. Shortly after 2 p.m., the British-Irish pop stars appeared in front of a sea of screaming female fans and a handful of their parental chaperones. The band treated the audience to a Q&A session moderated by Ryan Seacrest and fielded questions from a few lucky fans. They also performed several tracks off their forthcoming release including “Best Song Ever,” “Story of My Life” and the title track, in addition to hits like “What Makes You Beautiful.”Contest winners queued up in rather English drizzly weather for hours to see Britain's sweethearts, screaming before the doors even cracked open at 1:30 p.m.; by the time fans were allowed inside, their excitement had reached a fever pitch, with even an onstage sighting of Niall Horan's guitar tech setting off a fresh wave of eardrum-shattering screams throughout the crowd. And when the actual 1D boys finally hit the stage at 2, the shrieking practically grew loud enough to entirely drown out the group's six numbers and between-song Q&A with host Ryan Seacrest. Also during the performance, fans were treated to clips of the band’s unreleased ultimate fan edition of their documentary "This is Us," which will be available on DVD and blu ray Dec. 17. The iHeartRadio One Direction CD release party will stream on Nov. 25 at 9pm ET on Yahoo Screen and will also be televised on The CW on Dec. 9 at 9 p.m. ET.

Alex Ariza Kicked by Alex Ariza BRANDON RIOS CAMP Video

Manny Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach, Brandon Rios' trainer Robert Garcia, and former Pacquiao and current Rios strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza were reportedly involved in a physical scuffle tonight in Macao. In fact, Ariza booted Roach in the chest in the midst of a heated verbal exchange between the two camps, one that apparently erupted when there was a dispute over whose turn it was to use the facility."I got struck by Alex Ariza. He kicked me in the chest," added Roach, who intimated that the race card was being used because he's Caucasian."Is that [the racist accusations] coz I'm a white guy?" Roach added. "You make the race issue such a big deal. That was way after the fact."Roach added that it was Robert Garcia, Brandon Rios' trainer who started the altercation.Pacquiao has lost his last two fights - to Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez - however he is determined to prove that his career is not over. "I'm excited because I haven't fought since last year," he said. "I feel like I'm excited, hungry to fight again; to prove that I can still fight. It's been a while I didn't fight." Rios, though, believes that he is in the perfect shape to inflict a third successive defeat on Pacquiao, who has won world titles at eight different weights.Clearly the trouble has been brewing for some time between Roach, Garcia and Ariza, and it was only a matter of time before things hit a reckoning point. This isn't the case of somebody manufacturing a feud in order to increase the pay-per-view buys. Roach doesn't like Garcia, and he doesn't like Ariza. The feeling is mutual from the other side. This real-life drama does add another dimension to what seems like an otherwise uninspiring fight.

Lion Kills Lioness In Attack At Dallas Zoo

A male lion attacked and killed female lion in their enclosure in front of dozens of horrified onlookers at a Texas zoo Sunday. Visitors at the Dallas Zoo said they thought the pair was merely roughhousing before blood started pouring from the 5-year-old lioness' Johari's neck. The attack took place around 2:15 p.m. Sunday in the zoo's Giants of the Savanna exhibit, which is home to two lions and three lionesses, all of whom were raised in captivity. Seemingly unprovoked, a 5-year-old male bit Johari on the neck. The other male lion joined in on the attack as stunned zoo-goers looked on. Before workers could intervene, the lioness was dead. Many visitors did not realize the lioness was being attacked by a member of the pride, who casually used its jaws to grab the lioness by the throat."Everyone thought they were playing at first but then they could see that she was struggling," Jim Harvey, who witnessed the killing, told WFAA. The lioness, nicknamed Jo-Jo, recently celebrated her fifth birthday. Nearly 100 guests sang "Happy Birthday" to her while she enjoyed a frozen cake, the zoo said.

Georges St-Pierre vs johny Hendricks UFC 167 WELTERWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT

Tonight (Sat., Nov. 16, 2013) Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will put his belt on the line in a long-awaited showdown with Johny Hendricks in the pay-per-view (PPV) main event of UFC 167 from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. "GSP" is one of the most polarizing stars in all of mixed martial arts (MMA). On one hand, he is arguably the company's biggest draw and most likeable champion. On the other hand, he has a ton of critics who deem his strategic style of fighting boring. It's been so long since anyone other than GSP stood atop that Welterweight division that it feels off to even contemplate a St-Pierre loss. Still, Chris Weidman showed us that even the "invincible" champions can fall. For Hendricks to have a Weidman-esque upset win, he'll need to give GSP the fight of his life and use that huge left hand. If he doesn't, look for the champion to do what he does best: grind his opponent into defeat.UFC 167 is set, and the long-time UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is ready to defend his title one more time. This time it will be No. 1-ranked contender Johny Hendricks looking to dethrone the champion.

Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman announced later Monday that the 23-year-old Stamkos, the NHL's co-leader in goals and points, will undergo surgery. The operation is expected to take place Tuesday. "The medical staff in Boston, in consultation with our team physicians, has made the decision to surgically repair the injury," Yzerman said in a team release. "The procedure is expected to take place tomorrow morning.Teammate Martin St. Louis didn't know how bad it was when the locker room opened after the game. "He's a big part of our team, but we don't know the severity of it, so we're going to wait and hear," he said. "Obviously he's a big part of our team." The team's leading scorer and one of the top players in the league, Stamkos was backchecking on a play late in the second period Monday when he got tied up with Boston defenseman Dougie Hamilton. The pair went into the net hard. Stamkos immediately grabbed his right leg and was rolling on the ice in pain.Stamkos immediately grabbed his right leg and was rolling on the ice in pain. "It's obviously tough to see him go down, not only for our team, he's one of the best players in the world," Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. "People come out to cheer the Boston Bruins here, and they come to see Steven Stamkos play hockey. It's a loss for everybody." After a brief delay, a stretcher was brought out and he was taken off to loud applause. As he was carted off, he put both hands to his face in apparent pain.

Miley Cyrus Smoking A Joint At MTV EMA 2013 Video

The singer lit a hand-rolled cigarette as she accepted her best video award for Wrecking Ball at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam - where smoking marijuana is tolerated. The drug is not legal in the Netherlands, but smokers can not be prosecuted for possession of small amounts and it is sold openly in cafes known as "coffee shops".Cyrus, who long ago shed her image of innocence as the child star of Hannah Montana, has made no secret of her appreciation of Amsterdam's attractions, arriving the Friday before the show and hanging out at the Greenhouse coffee shop downtown with several other stars. She also wore marijuana leaf emblems in her earphones during a live rendition of Wrecking Ball against the backdrop of a giant video screen of herself crying. The EMAs traditionally focus on global, rather than U.S. pop music acts, though there's a lot of overlap: winners included Bruno Mars, who grabbed Best Song for "Locked Out of Heaven," and Eminem both in the Best Hip Hop and Global Icon category. The "intergalactic"-themed show is scheduled to be rebroadcast in the U.S. later Sunday. Another notable winner was Katy Perry for Best Female Artist. Perry, apparently caught by surprise at her win, spit out a sip of champagne and took the stage to thank her fans.Cyrus isn't shy about her love of marijuana. In September she told Rolling Stone, "I think weed is the best drug on earth," and since she's been in Amsterdam for the EMAs, she's reportedly been hitting up the city's famous coffee shops that allow patrons to enjoy all the weed they want. Though it's sold openly in cafes, marijuana still isn't legal in the Netherlands, however smokers in possession of less than five grams of canabis have no fear of prosecution, according to the Associated Press.

Super Typhoon Haiyan, Strongest Storm Hits Philippines 2013

Super Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest tropical cyclones ever observed, made landfall Friday morning in the Philippines, the country's weather service reported. Thousands of people in vulnerable areas of the central Philippines were evacuated as the monster storm spun toward the country. With sustained winds of 315 kph (195 mph) and gusts as strong as 380 kph (235 mph), Haiyan churned across the Western Pacific into the Philippines. Its wind strength makes it equivalent to an exceptionally strong Category 5 hurricane. Haiyan will move over the many islands of the central Philippines over the next 18 hours before exiting into the South China Sea overnight Friday into Saturday. Haiyan will weaken slightly as the storm crosses land, but forecasters with the Philippine weather agency, Pagasa, predict that it will maintain super typhoon intensity throughout its passage of the islands. The U.S. Navy’s Joint Typhoon Warning Center forecasts that Haiyan will cross the Central Philippines as a Category 4 or 5 Super Typhoon, and then re-emerge over open water, before making landfall in Vietnam as a Category 3 typhoon on November 10. Ryan Maue, a meteorologist at WeatherBELL Analytics, said that Haiyan appears to be the strongest storm since Super Typhoon Tip in 1979. Maue said the storm has avoided the typical hiccups that other intense storms encounter, such as eyewall replacement cycles, during which a storm's inner core undergoes a reorganization. Such cycles can cause a Category 5 storm to weaken to a Category 3 or 4 storm, before re-strengthening. Instead of doing this, though, Haiyan has remained at peak strength for more than 24 hours, which is unusual, and even strengthened on Monday morning. After hitting the Leyte province, the Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology expects the storm to traverse the central Philippines from Biliran to Busuanga before passing into the West Philippine Sea. The Department is warning coastal residents to expect storm surges “which may reach up to 7-meter (23 feet) wave height,” along with flooding and mudslides. It’s nearly inconceivable that any weather station would survive such conditions for very long to verify, so we may never know exactly how strong this storm currently is. There have only been a handful of storms anywhere on Earth (pdf) that have reached this estimated intensity—and only three since 1969. Such strong storms usually remain out at sea where wind speed verification is impossible without aircraft. + The storm’s wind speed at landfall tops the last world record holder, the Atlantic’s Hurricane Camille, which hit Mississippi in 1969 with 190 mph winds. + That’s certainly foreboding enough, but the humanitarian disaster that may unfold could be immense. The latest forecast track by the JTWC shows Haiyan passing very near Tacloban, a city of a quarter million people, and Cebu, a city of nearly one million people.

Evan Turner Poster Dunk On LeBron James Video

Evan Turner dunked on LeBron James as part of a 19-0 76ers run to start the game against the two-time defending champion Miami Heat on Wednesday. With roughly 10:30 remaining in the first quarter, Turner found himself ahead of the play in transition, with only James standing between him and the hoop. Gathering himself just outside the restricted circle, Turner rose for a two-handed dunk over the top of James, who attempted to block the dunk with his right hand. It is unusual that LeBron is on the receiving end of one of these dunks, usually he is the one doing the dunking. The Heat fought back though. At the end of the first quarter the score was 33-4, Sixers. In the second quarter the Heat went on a 14-4 run of their own to narrow the gap. The Heat can’t be counted out, even with an early big lead.

Dez Bryant explodes at Tony Romo, Jason Garrett On Sideline Video

Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant was caught freaking out on the sidelines in Detroit on Sunday, but it's unclear what caused this outburst.Bryant had only two catches for 22 yards at the time, but he also had a sick touchdown catch in the first half. The Cowboys also had a 13-7 lead, which makes it a mystery as to why he threw a tantrum on the sidelines.Bryant followed the tantrum with a 50-yard touchdown catch that put the Cowboys up 27-17. Detroit managed to pull off a last minute drive and TD plunge by Matthew Stafford to secure a 31-30 lead with 12 seconds to go in the game, leading to Bryant getting in a shouting match with tight end Jason Witten:To top things off, the unhinged receiver got into it with Jason Witten after the Lions scored late in the fourth. Witten, of course, was having none of it, and rightfully so. What a perfect mess. Dez is either making an exemplary play or sporting the Keystone Light “bitter beer face” while lighting up teammates on the sideline. It’s not clear exactly what had Bryant upset, but it may be the fact that he only caught two passes for 22 yards in the game’s first three quarters. Bryant said last week that he can do whatever Detroit’s Calvin Johnson can do, but Johnson has nine catches for 221 yards so far. However, Johnson also has a fumble, one of four Detroit turnovers.Bryant, who claimed during the week leading up to the game that he was capable of doing everything that Lions receiver Calvin Johnson can do, may have been unhappy at his lack of opportunities. At the end of the third quarter, Bryant had two catches for 22 yards on five targets, while Johnson had ripped the Cowboys secondary to bits with nine catches for 221 yards on 11 targets.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak collapses on the Field Video

Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak collapsed on the field during a Sunday Night Football game vs. the Indianapolis Colts. Kubiak collapsed as the teams were coming off the field for halftime. He was tended to by medical officials on the field and taken to a hospital. The 52-year-old Kubiak has been the Texans’ head coach since the 2006 season. Before that, he was the Denver Broncos’ longtime offensive coordinator, and a backup quarterback for the Broncos from 1983 through ’91. Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, who has head coaching experience with the Broncos, Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys will be the interim coach through the remainder of the game. Kubiak’s family left the stadium with him. The Texans released a statement via their Twitter account regarding the situation: We have no official update on head coach Gary Kubiak’s condition at this time. Jon Accused of Cheating in World Series

Red Sox ace Jon Lester pitched a gem against the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 1 of the World Series, scattering five hits while striking out eight over 7.2 scoreless innings en route to an 8-1 Boston drubbing for an early 1-0 series lead. But did he have some extra help in shutting down the St. Louis attack? According to Cardinals minor league pitcher Tyler Melling, the answer to that question is a resounding yes: We can clearly see something on the inside of Lester's glove, though what that may be is nothing but pure speculation. But did he have some extra help in shutting down the St. Louis attack? There's a Vine video, too, taken by a person who appears to be a Cardinals fan, of Lester going to his glove to add whatever foreign substance it might be. It could be avocado (or, at this point in the game, guacamole), which still is against the rules, though guac doesn't have the same reputation for making the ball drop like petroleum jelly does.We cannot draw any conclusions from this video,” an MLB spokesperson told the Daily News' Andy Martino. "There were no complaints from the Cardinals, and the umpires never detected anything indicating a foreign substance throughout the game.”

Carlos Beltran leaves Game 1 with Rib's injury

With his team down, 5-0, Cardinals right fielder Carlos Beltran left Game 1 of the World Series vs. the Red Sox before the start of the bottom of the third inning. Shane Robinson replaced Beltran in right field and Jon Jay entered the game in center field. It was a painful end to one terrific play. Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright was struggling for the second straight inning, facing a bases-loaded, one-out jam with a run already across in the frame and dangerous David Ortiz at the plate. Ortiz ignited the Fenway Park crowd with a fly ball to deep right field, where Beltran crashed hard into the low wall and reached over to take away a grand slam.St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Carlos Beltran exited Wednesday's opening game of the World Series against the Boston Red Sox in the third inning with what the team is calling a right rib contusion.

Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate Fight UFC 168

Ronda Rousey didn't crack many smiles during this season of the UFC's groundbreaking reality television show The Ultimate Fighter. On the surface, there was plenty to grin about. New York Jets fan punches woman in face during stadium brawl

A presumably drunken New York Jets fan got into a fight during the team’s game against the New England Patriots on Sunday. After scuffling through the crowd, the man hauls off and punches a woman in the face.A commenter on the site said that the fight started over a rivalry between Jets and New England Patriot fans. “The whole thing was shameful it’s a football game and you don’t hit a girl or call her a bitch,” the commenter said.Although there is no sign of stadium security or police in the brief video filmed as fans exited the stadium, a team spokesman told the New York Daily News that the incident didn't go unnoticed.Nothing too strange about that, especially coming just after a closely fought game between a team from New York/Jersey and a team from Boston. However, what makes this one totally disgusting is the male(douche) Jets fan who punches a blonde-haired, petite, female, Patriots fan in the kisser.

UFC 166 Cain Velasquez vs Dos Santos Full Fight

UFC 166 takes place on Saturday night in one of the most eagerly anticipated Ultimate Fighting Championship match ups of the year, with the main event being Cain Velasquez vs Junior dos Santos. Online preliminaries will start at 6 p.m. ET, with regular preliminaries starting from 8 p.m. ET.In the main event, UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez will defend his title against Junior dos Santos. Roy Nelson will square off against Daniel Cormier in the co-main event.Seeing that the first fight ended with dos Santos rocking Velasquez in little more than one minute to win the title, and the second fight was vastly different with Velasquez pummeling dos Santos in his own game and utilizing takedowns, too, this fight could not be more of a toss up to call. Though fighting at heavyweight on Saturday, Daniel Cormier is expected to move to 205 pounds in his next outing. An impressive win over Roy Nelson at UFC 166 could position Cormier for a quick shot at the light heavyweight strap. On the heels of a controversial loss to then-champion Benson Henderson, Gilbert Melendez will try to jump back into the title hunt Saturday. Standing between the former Strikeforce champion and another shot at the belt will be fellow former title challenger Diego Sanchez.

New Mexico State vs. Utah Valley Fight (Video)

After Utah Valley secured a win over New Mexico State on their home floor Thursday, the Wolverine fans stormed the court. As time expired and fans piled onto the area of play, New Mexico's K.C. Ross-Miller zipped the basketball at a UV player. The ensuing fracas will become part of the narrative of court-stormings, a discussion that has persisted among fans and media members in college athletics.Details are still emerging from UCCU Events Center, but the already-tense scene escalated when K.C. Ross-Miller of New Mexico State threw a basketball at Utah Valley's Holton Hunsaker. Jeff Eisenberg of Yahoo Sports spoke to the Utah Valley sports information director, who indicated subsequent brawls then broke out between New Mexico State players and fans on the floor. The whole incident starts after a direct and hard toss of the basketball by New Mexico State's K.C. Ross-Miller toward Utah Valley's Holton Hunsaker. That prompted an on-court skirmish between the teams that spilled over into the rumpus as fans took over a large portion of the court. The screengrab below, provided via Deadspin's Tim Burke, shows New Mexico State guard Daniel Mullings as the player in the center of the scuffle. Mullings needed two older men to physically remove him from the court.Enos hit three free throws with four seconds left in regulation to force overtime and made four more in the last 11 seconds of the extra session. He finished with 11 points for the Wolverines (17-10, 11-3), and Zach Nelson added 10. Mullings led the Aggies (21-9, 10-4) with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Sim Bhullar had 10 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks.Utah Valley closed regulation with an 8-1 run over the last 2 1/2 minutes. Eldridge's 3-pointer put New Mexico State up 56-55 with 3:26 left in overtime, but Utah Valley scored seven straight, four from Aird, who had six in overtime.

David Ortiz Grand Slam Ties ALCS Game 2 In 8th Inning

BOSTON – A night after helping the Tigers take a no-hitter in the ninth inning, the bullpen faltered badly in the eighth inning. Jose Veras allowed a one-out double to Will Middlebrooks. Lefty Drew Smyly came in to pitch to left-handed hitter Jacoby Ellsbury and gave up a walk. Al Alburquerque was brought in and got Victorino to strike out, before giving up a single to Pedroia to load the bases. Tigers manager Jim Leyland then brought Joaquin Benoit to pitch to David Ortiz. Ortiz sent the first pitch over the fence in right for a game-tying grand slam. Tigers right fielder Torii Hunter went over the wall hard in an attempt.David Ortiz's grand slam off Detroit closer Joaquin Benoit tied the game 5-5 and ignited what had been a silent crowd at Fenway Park. Scherzer became the third Tigers pitcher in a row this postseason to start the game with at least five no-hit innings as Detroit is threatening to make short work of the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS.After Red Sox closer Koji Uehara held the Tigers scoreless in the top of the ninth, the Red Sox evened the series with a 6-5 walk-off win. Boston backstop Jarrod Saltalamacchia drove in the winning run with a single through the drawn-in infield but there was little doubt that Ortiez was the biggest hero of the night.

Aaron Rodgers out with shoulder Injury Video

As a team that's already been ravaged by injuries in 2013, the Green Bay Packers must wonder what they've done to upset the football gods after Aaron Rodgers left the field in the first quarter on Monday night against the Chicago Bears.Rodgers appeared to suffer a shoulder injury on his throwing arm when he was sacked by Shea McClellin on a third down near the Bears goal line. The Packers don’t have much depth at backup quarterback. The No. 2 option is veteran journeyman Seneca Wallace. With backup quarterback Josh McCown, the Bears drove for a touchdown against the Green Bay defense. We’ll soon find out whether Wallace can do the same.

Pop duo t.A.T.u performing Sochi at Olympics Games opening ceremony

t.A.T.u.the duo famous for their faux-lesbian hit All The Things She Said, are reportedly performing at the Sochi winter games.Much has been reported about Sochi in the lead-up to the Games, from security concerns, protests against Russia's anti-gay “propaganda” law and the decidedly spring-like temperatures. And on top of all that, there's the price. With these Games reportedly being the most expensive in Olympic history – with an estimated $50-billion price tag – one can't help but wonder what we're going to see at the official kickoff to the Olympics. Multiple sources have confirmed Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina's presence at rehearsals in Sochi, with fans sharing photographs of the singers on stage and Volkova tweeting images of herself with Olympic athletes. According to the Washington Post, t.A.T.u.'s performance will be part of a warm-up that is not broadcast internationally, but Russia's Olympic team will enter Fisht stadium to the soundtrack of the duo's 2003 smash, Not Gonna Get Us.As is always the case for the opening ceremony, the details are largely under wraps. One element of the festivities drawing attention ahead of time was the performance of pseudo-lesbian Russian pop duo Tatu. Given the international outrage surrounding Russia's law banning gay "propaganda" to minors, the musical choice is conspicuous. The identity of the person who will carry the Olympic torch into the stadium to light the cauldron remained a secret before the ceremony. Whomever handles the honor will conclude a historic journey for the Olympic flame. The torch relay covered 39,000 miles during the relay.

EJ Manuel suffers knee Injury Hit Against Browns

Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel couldn't get out of bounds on a scramble before Cleveland Browns safety Tashaun Gipson hit Manuel on the right knee, a scary-looking injury that sent Manuel out of the game.Marrone said he does not know if Manuel, the 16th overall pick in April's NFL draft, will undergo an MRI. He also said it is too early to know if the Bills will evaluate quarterbacks on the free-agent market. On a third-down play in the third quarter, Manuel was pressured and scrambled for a first down. After gaining the necessary yardage, he began to turn out of bounds and was hit on his right knee by Browns defensive back Tashaun Gipson. The injury happened on a third-and-8 play as Manuel was finishing a 14-yard scramble. Manuel was near the sideline but wasn't out of bounds when Gipson hit him. Trainers examined his knee before taking him to the locker room. George Parros Injured George Parros vs Colton Orr Fight

Montreal Canadiens enforcer George Parros was taken from the ice on a stretcher — and then reportedly taken to a local hospital — after he was injured during a fight in the season-opening game on Tuesday night. The 33-year-old fought Toronto Maple Leafs counterpart Colton Orr in the second period before tangling again in the third. Orr seemed to lose his footing at the end of that second fight, and fell to the ice with his opponent’s jersey still clutched in his hand. Parros fell hard. The two enforcers engaged with one another as Orr and Carter Ashton were trying to score on a two-on-one break early in the third period. As referees were approaching to stop the bout, Parros fell to the ground and drove his shoulder and head into the Bell Centre ice. The Maple Leafs and Canadiens are no strangers to fisticuffs in their games, as the Parros-Orr fight was the fourth one of the game. Both Parros and Orr received 10-minute game misconducts as well as five-minute majors for fighting.

Video Fernando Torres Scratches Jan Vertonghen's Face

Torres scratches Vertonghen Tottenham 1-1 Chelsea Premier League Fernando Torres and Jan Vertonghen had a ding-dong battle in the London derby today. It was full-blooded, aggressive, and in Torres' case, a bit catty -- in fact Torres could have easily been sent off for his bizarre and truly evil face scratch earlier. But the incident that saw Torres sent off was an innocuous one, both players going in fairly for an aerial ball, and clashing 50-50. The Spurs defender, who pulled down an opponent's shorts earlier in the week, brought out an aggression and fury that has been largely missing from Torres' game since he joined Chelsea and as a result, the Chelsea striker played with an edge to his game. Unfortunately for Torres, this gave the referee an excuse to send him off for doing nothing wrong. This GIF shows Torres apparently clawing the face of Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen. That episode earned him a yellow card. A second yellow and a red followed after an aerial challenge later in the second half. The coming together was the first of a handful of incidents between the pair, before Torres finally took it a little too far and was sent off for clashing with Vertonghen during a battle for a high ball. The catty row will now see Torres sit out the next game through suspension, and the cheeky scratch could also land him in hot water with the FA, if it decides to take retrospective action.

LeBron James Got Angry At Mario Chalmers During Timeout Video

Members of the Miami Heat lost their cool on Wednesday night in a game against the Indiana Pacers. LeBron James and Mario Chalmers had to be separated during a timeout.Chalmers, dubbed the "the most-yelled-at man in the NBA" in 2012 because of the way his superstar teammates treat him, enraged James during the third quarter of a nationally televised matchup of the top two teams in the East on Wednesday night. Although it looked like James might knock out Chalmers at one point, it was the Pacers who seemed to ultimately pay the price. The trouble for Chalmers -- and perhaps the Pacers -- began when James took exception to a defensive miscommunication that freed up Paul George to stretch Indiana's lead to 63-49 with a wide-open three-point shot with 7:56 remaining in the third quarter.During a timeout in the first quarter, Heat point guard Mario Chalmers was saying something to LeBron James, and at the end of the conversation, the reigning NBA MVP angrily stood up and got in Chalmers’ face. Luckily for the Heat, veteran forward Udonis Haslem pulled James back before he got too close to his point guard. Later in the game, James was seen apologizing to Chalmers for his outburst.

Emotional Mariano Rivera Crying at his farewell goodbye last game

NEW YORK -- Mariano Rivera said goodbye to Yankee Stadium with hugs, tears and cheers. Baseball's most acclaimed relief pitcher made an emotional exit in his final appearance in the Yankees' home pinstripes, when captain Derek Jeter and Andy Pettitte came to the mound to remove him with two outs in the ninth inning of a 4-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night."It's time to go," Jeter appeared to tell Rivera.Rivera, who retired four straight batters, wiped his eyes with both arms as he walked off and blew a kiss to the first row behind the Yankees dugout. He hugged a tearful Girardi in the dugout, grabbed a towel to dab his own tears, and came out again and doffed his cap to the crowd. All the while, the Rays remained in their dugout applauding.Throughout the stands, fans blinked back tears.Rivera received a rare shout out from the Bleacher Creatures, who closed their nightly roll call with the chant of "Ma-ri-a-no!" before he tipped his cap from the dugout. The Rays took a 4-0 lead with two runs in the eighth against Dellin Betances, and with runners at first and second and one out, Joe Girardi called on the all-time saves leader to get out of the jam. Rivera jogged in from the bullpen as a recording of Bob Sheppard announced his entrance. The crowd stood and applauded - as did the Rays, who emerged from their dugout to give the closer a standing ovation of their own.In one heck of a tactical move by Yankees manager Joe Girardi, he brought Rivera into the game one last time in the eighth inning (watch that below), let him retire four batters, then took him out with two outs in the ninth inning. All so Rivera could get one last ovation from Yankee fans.

Manny Machado's Leg Injury against Rays

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado suffered a major injury in his left leg after singling with one out in the top of the seventh inning against the Rays on Monday afternoon. The injury appeared to occur when Machado’s left foot hit the first-base bag, causing the lower part of his left leg to hang loose (GIF below the jump for those with weak stomachs). Machado immediately fell to the ground and grabbed his knee. It will be a while before the doctors are able to diagnose him, but this is obviously a season-ending injury and probably would be even if the end of the year wasn’t just seven days away.It appeared to be a routine groundout, but after Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Tim Beckham mishandled the ball, Machado reached safely. His knee did not. Machado's leg buckled as he rounded first base, and he went down writhing in pain.Machado immediately fell to the ground and began writhing in pain near first base. With his teammates looking on from the dugout, Machado was eventually placed on a stretcher and taken off the field.

UFC 165 Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson Full Fight

Tonight's (Sat., Sept. 21, 2013) UFC 165: "Jones vs. Gustafsson" pay-per-view (PPV) event from Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, features Jon Jones, quite possibly the sport's greatest fighter, defending his Light Heavyweight championship against Alexander Gustafsson, a relative unknown who just might have the skills to dethrone the king.In the co-main event, expected winner Renan Barao takes on Eddie Wineland. An upset in that bout would certainly make headlines, so it will be interesting to see how Barao responds in defending his interim bantamweight title. Both fighters are 26 years old, but Gustafsson has a slight height advantage at 6 ft 5 inches, compared to Jones' 6 feet 4 inches. However, in reach Jones has a clear advantage with a reach of 84.5", where as Gustafsson has a reach of just 81.2". Both weighed in at 205 lbs. Supporting Jones vs Gustafsson on the main card are a stream of other good fights that should provide fans with top entertainment. Barao vs Wineland, as well as Schaub vs Mitrione should be fantastic warm up fights.

Clemson's Isaiah Battle Ejected From Clemson-NC State For Uppercut Punch

Clemson offensive tackle Isaiah Battle was ejected late in the Tigers' win over the Wolfpack Thursday night after throwing a vicious uppercut at NC State defensive back Jarvis Byrd. Battle swung a strong shot right under the facemask of Byrd, who immediately fell to the ground. When you throw a punch like that, it is hard to disguise, and Battle was immediately ejected. Not only was Battle sent to the locker room early, but he will likely face a suspension from the ACC after they review the incident.Instead, he was removed from the game by head coach Dabo Swinney and ultimately ejected by officials. There’s no doubt the ACC will have something to say about Battle’s actions that could lead to further punishment. The punch knocked Byrd onto his back and led to a skirmish. Battle was immediately pulled from the game by Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and ejected for throwing a punch soon after. There's no word of additional penalties for the apparent sucker punch at this point.

Jurgen Klopp Epic Nervous Reaction At Referee

Borussia Dortmund experienced a nightmare start to their UEFA Champions League campaign Wednesday, losing 2-1 at Napoli. Beaten finalists last season, BVB opened the 2013-14 Champions League season with a trip to Italy to face Napoli. Put simply, things didn't go well.Inexplicably livid with Napoli’s perfectly legitimate opening goal, Klopp appeared to morph into a gurning wolverine, and was sent to the stands by the petrified fourth official before he was eaten alive by the man-beast.The Dortmund manager later went on to apologise "I made myself look like a monkey out there and that's not on," "I overstepped the mark and it was really pathetic of me" Klopp told ZDF television.Napoli, coached by Rafa Benitez, went 2-0 up through goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Lorenzo Insigne, and despite Camilo Zuniga putting through his own net, they still lost. It’s not clear if Uefa will take further action against Klopp, although the defeat and the loss of his goalkeeper Weidenfeller in a difficult Champions League group is probably enough punishment.

Clay Matthews Late Hit On Colin Kaepernick

A late hit on quarterback Colin Kaepernick led to a scuffle between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers early in the marquee game between the two top teams. The 49ers had a third-down play deep in Green Bay territory in the second quarter, and Kaepernick scrambled to his left in an effort to reach the first down. While he went out of bounds short of the marker, Clay Matthews didn't let up on the play. After Kaepernick had stepped out of bounds, the Packers linebacker brought him down to the ground hard. Matthews dove and wrapped Kaepernick after he stepped out of bounds, slamming him to the ground. San Francisco offensive lineman Joe Staley rushed over to retaliate, causing a scuffle out of bounds. The officials called a personal foul on Matthews and penalized Staley for unsportsmanlike conduct, resulting in offsetting penalties and no play. Days before their Week 1 meeting, Matthews spoke to local media about hitting the quarterback who is running the read option. After the disregard for the rules and the obvious cheap shot that the Packers delivered to Kaepernick, you can expect to see Clay Matthews getting a letter in the mail with a hefty fine from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. At the time of this post, the 49ers were hanging on to a one touchdown lead, 14-7, with a few seconds to go in the first half.

SOUTH CAROLINA COACHES SIDELINE FIGHT

outh Carolina's playing pretty well in Athens against the Georgia Bulldogs today, so we're not sure what sparked this. Brad Nessler, as you can hear, is himself baffled. All told, the Georgia Bulldogs made five trips to the end zone in their 41-30 win. Even when the Gamecocks forced a three-and-out, the defensive coaches couldn't hide their frustration. The altercation came after South Carolina had just forced Georgia to go three and out on offense. No word yet on the reason, but hopefully it was short-lived, considering this is one of the biggest games of the season for the Gamecocks.

Fan runs on court, confronts Hawaii coach

Every once in a while, a fan will run onto the field or court during a game. Usually, the fan just runs around for fun, so it's a pretty rare sight to see one angrily confront a player or coach. After Hawaii coach Gib Arnold was assessed a technical foul during tonight’s game against UC Santa Barbara, a Gauchos fan ran onto the court to confront him. Hawaii’s players had to literally push away the spectator from their coach. The COME AT ME BRO-ish backpedal is kinda frightening. This is not an individual in his right mind. And then he just turns around and leaves, as if to return to his seat.

Munchie Legaux Leg Injury During Game Vs. Illinois

Cincinnati's Munchie Legaux suffered a serious leg injury during a game against Illinois on Saturday and was hospitalized. Legaux was trying to lead a fourth quarter comeback as Cincinnati trailed 31-17 against an Illinois team that struggled to put away an FCS team last week. As he got rid of a pass, he was sandwiched by a pair of Illinois defenders. (That's a link to a .GIF of him being hit. We opted not to post it here, because it's rather gruesome.) He immediately went down, and everybody around the Illini's stadium quickly realized the severity of the injury.Kay was the projected starter entering August but was slowed by shoulder fatigue, allowing Legaux to reclaim his spot in the starting lineup.Illinois would score 14 points after Legaux's injury, beating Cincinnati 45-17 to move to 2-0. The 28-point win provided the program's largest margin of victory since beating Purdue 44-10 on Oct. 30, 2010.Legaux was hit by two Illinois defenders as he was delivering a pass and immediately went to the ground. Players who were near him instantly signaled for the trainers and looked horrified after seeing the damage.

Matthew Cordle Confesses in Video Killing Man in Crash

A driver has confessed in a video posted online that he's to blame for a wrong-way car crash stemming from a night of heavy drinking that killed another man and says he's willing to take "full responsibility." The 3 1/2-minute video, posted on at least two websites on Tuesday, shows 22-year-old Matthew Cordle describing what led to the accident in which he killed the man three months ago. "My name is Matthew Cordle, and on June 22nd, 2013, I hit and killed Vincent Canzani," he says somberly. Malcolm Mitchell Knee Injury

Georgia receiver Malcolm Mitchell will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday's loss at Clemson. Coach Mark Richt said Sunday that Mitchell will have season-ending surgery "in the near future."Mitchell, the leading returning receiver for the No. 5 Bulldogs, hurt his knee when celebrating with a teammate following Todd Gurley's 75-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. No. 8 Clemson beat Georgia 38-35. "He actually hurt it in the exuberance of the first touchdown of the game for us," Richt said on a conference call. "He went to congratulate his teammate and I think they jumped up and chest-bumped or whatever and it ended up that he landed in a bad way. So he knew something happened. " Georgia head coach Mark Richt confirmed to media members after the game that Mitchell's injury was serious, but he did not know the full extent of it. Mitchell was Georgia's leading returning receiver from last season, when he caught 40 passes for 572 yards and four touchdowns. The junior from Valdosta, Ga., was named to the preseason watch lists for both the Paul Hornung and Biletnikoff Awards. He had great speed and quickness and would snatch the ball and get up field. He’s a great competitor and actually hurt it in the exuberance of the first touchdown of game for us.” Junior Michael Bennett ended up taking most of the snaps in Mitchell’s split-end position the rest of Saturday’s game. But Richt wasn’t sure exactly how the Bulldogs will lineup against South Carolina this weekend. Bennett led Georgia receivers with five catches for 60 yards. Justin-Scott Wesley had four for 55 and Chris Conley had three for 67. Junior college transfer Jonathan Rumph is expected to return from injury this week as well.

UFC 164 Ben Henderson vs. Anthony Pettis Full Fight

It isn't often that you find two mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters whose names will probably be connected for the entirety of their careers ... and even long thereafter. For this to happen, those two fighters have to have done something incredible against one another in the cage. And that is what happened at World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) 53 in 2010 when Anthony Pettis challenged Ben Henderson for his Lightweight title. In Henderson's backyard, the two went to war for five rounds in a close 155-pound title match that was capped off with Pettis' much-acclaimed "Showtime" kick that won him the fifth round and ultimately the unanimous decision. But, before that, Henderson and Pettis showed their proficiency in all facets of the sport, putting together great exchanges in the clinch, on the ground and at striking range.Henderson and Pettis made the final match of the farewell show for the WEC one of the greatest fights of all time. It was a back-and-forth war that had no clear winner until the judges rendered the final tally. Now the two have a chance to outdo themselves and put on an even better showcase for the fans.Pettis knows his opponent, and the fact that he likes to finish is great; however, it can put him at a disadvantage against Henderson. The champion will look to take Pettis down within the final minute of each round. But Pettis knows that, and Henderson likely knows that Pettis knows it. For the champ, a takedown at the start of the round is just as good as near the end. And while Pettis will look to avoid last-minute takedowns, Henderson might jump on early takedown opportunities to secure the round off the bat. Judges score takedowns heavily, and Henderson will capitalize on that knowledge.UFC 164: Henderson vs. Pettis airs live on PPV this Saturday, August 31 with the main card starting at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.There, it was Pettis who unseated Henderson for the WEC title, forever immortalizing himself on highlight reels with his Shotime Kick in the process. They've both had a successful transition to the UFC, though Henderson has obviously had a smoother run. The question in this fight is if Pettis is simply Bendo's kryptonite, or if Henderson can avenge the loss, possibly setting up a trioogy.

Man Reportedly Kills His Wife And Posts Photo Of Her Dead Body To Facebook

SOUTH MIAMI, FL - A South Florida man who authorities say fatally shot his wife -- and apparently then posted a photo of her body on Facebook -- was charged with first-degree murder Thursday night after turning himself in. Miami-Dade police said in an arrest affidavit that Derek Medina, 31, said he shot Jennifer Alfonso, 26, at their South Miami home after she said she was "leaving him." When officers responded to the home, they found Alfonso's body, as well as her 10-year-old daughter, who was unharmed. According to the affidavit, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Medina said the couple became involved in a heated argument in an upstairs bedroom when he armed himself with a gun and pointed it at her. He said Alfonso left the bedroom, returning later to say she was leaving him. He says he went downstairs and confronted her in the kitchen, when she began punching him. He claims he went back upstairs to get his gun and confronted her again, at which time she grabbed a knife. Medina said he was able to disarm her and put the knife in a drawer, but that when she began punching him again, he shot her several times, the affidavit says.Police confirmed that Medina was in custody on Thursday on suspicion of homicide and that the 24-year-old Alonso was the victim. The news release sent to reporters does not address whether he posted a photo of Alfonso's body on Facebook, and reads as follows: "The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau, is investigating an incident that occurred in the City of South Miami.Medina appears to have uploaded a photograph of his dead wife to his Facebook account. At the time of writing it has been shared 173 times (the photograph is not included or linked to in this post). As NY Mag's Joe Coscarelli notes, friends don't seem to know how to react. His Facebook profile was removed about five hours after the shooting, according to ABC News' Miami affiliate WPLG-TV. Authorities have so far declined to discuss the Facebook postings or say whether Medina made them. Alfonso's 10-year-old daughter from a previous relationship was at the residence today with her mother's body and was unharmed, according to police.

Yuki Tsubota Ski Brutal CRASH Slopestyle - Sochi 2014

Canadian women’s freestyle skier Yuki Tsubota was carted off the slopestyle course in Sochi early Tuesday. The 20-year-old came up well short while attempting a high-risk jump to close out her routine. Tsubota’s head hit the ground and she appeared initially to suffer a leg injury as she lay motionless on the ground not far from the finish line.Tsubota was attempting to land the third of three jumps at the end of the challenging and slushy course Tuesday when she crashed into the crest of the landing zone. The 20-year-old Tsubota slid down the hill while her skis scattered.Tsubota finished her first run of the ski slopestyle finals with a score of 71.60, good for fifth overall with three skiers to go.During her final run in the skiing slopestyle finals, Tsubota didn't get enough length on her last jump, and landed on the "knuckle" — the flat part of the hill right above the landing area. David Ortiz Ejected Destroys Phone Case Video

BALTIMORE -- Red Sox slugger David Ortiz boiled over during Saturday night's 7-3 win over the Orioles, slamming his bat against a dugout phone after he felt home-plate umpire Tim Timmons missed some calls during his strikeout in the top of the seventh. Ortiz was then ejected, and came storming out of the dugout. He was restrained by manager John Farrell and bench coach Tory Luvullo, which could end up helping him avoid a suspension. "You're angry, you're going all over the place, your mind is processing some [stuff], it's not good," said Ortiz.Ortiz smashed his bat against the phone in the corner of the visitor's dugout. Teammate Dustin Pedroia was shown covering his head with a towel to protect himself as the bat shattered into pieces. Pedroia later got in Ortiz's face about what had just happened. Pedroia said after the game that his message to Ortiz was to calm down, telling reporters, "he's the biggest part of our lineup. We can't lose David for one game." The Red Sox second baseman also added, "I'm sure it looked pretty funny, the smallest guy out there going at it with the biggest guy."He was not shy about sharing his opinion. Angry about a pair of called strikes from earlier in the at-bat, Ortiz hollered at Timmons after waving at the sixth offering from Orioles pitcher Jairo Asencio. "I got 17 years in the league and I don't think I deserve to be disrespected like that," Ortiz said after the game, via The Associated Press. "You want to get respect from the players, you respect the players. That was horrible. Both of the pitches, not one.

Puig's Walk-off Homerun to Win it for Dodgers Video

LOS ANGELES — Yasiel Puig homered with two outs in the 11th inning to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 1-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. Cincinnati pitchers set a franchise record with 20 strikeouts. Puig, Adrian Gonzalez, Hanley Ramirez and Tim Federowicz each fanned three times as the Dodgers established their highest single-game total for strikeouts since the franchise moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles following the 1957 season. Puig drove an 0-1 pitch deep into the left-field pavilion against rookie Curtis Partch (0-1) for his 10th homer and 23rd RBI in 48 big league games. The excitable rookie circled the bases and slid into home plate, where teammates were waiting for him. This time, the theatrics were delivered by Yasiel Puig, the rookie lightning rod who has energized the team ever since being called up. In the bottom of the 11th inning in a scoreless game, Puig strode to the plate and delivered the coup de grace, in typical Yasiel Puig fashion. The 22-year-old player's home run was his 10th of the year to go with a .372 batting average. He has taken the league by storm and was close to being selected to the All-Star Game after only one month in the major leagues. While he lost out on the final vote to Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves, you can expect many more chances in the future. The Cuban defector continues to dominate opposing pitching and showcase a great deal of ability in the field and on the bases. His latest performance against the Reds is just one more example of what makes him one of the bright young stars in the sport.

UFC 168 : Anderson Silva Suffers Gruesome Leg Injury Against Chris Weidman Fight

Anderson Silva, the longtime former UFC Middleweight champion, lost against current Middleweight champion Chris Weidman on Saturday night during UFC 168. He appeared to fracture his ankle in half, leading to a TKO loss. Silva went in for a kick during the second round but then immediately collapsed on the ground in agony holding his leg.Weidman (11-0) quietly celebrated his victory while medical personnel tended to Silva (33-6), whose left shin bent grotesquely while landing a kick on Weidman's left leg 1:16 into the round.Weidman started working his ground-and-pound and Silva ate serious shots that caused his head to bounce off the canvas. Silva stayed busy on the bottom and even landed a couple hammerfists, but those were the only significant strikes he landed in the first round. The round ended with Weidman postured over Silva looking to pound his face in, but the horn sounded. Anderson Silva walked into the middle of the octagon at the start of round two just as calm as he was in the first, which was impressive for the amount of punishment he took. Silva landed the first shot of the round in the form of a lightning quick leg kick. Weidman landed a body kick that forced Silva to retaliate with a leg kick of his own. Weidman, 29, has improved to 11-0 with the victory and Silva has fallen to 33-6. In his victory speech, Weidman praised Silva’s title run and career.

Amazing Will Venable Diving Catch

Venable's incredible diving catch on the warning track in center with his back to the infield — reminiscent of Jim Edmonds at his best — robbed Juan Perez of a certain game-ending hit and allowed the Padres more time to take the lead and beat the San Francisco Giants 5-3 in 13 innings.Venable went all out to track down the ball hit by Juan Perez, which surely would have won the game for the Giants had it dropped with a runner on second. Outstanding effort and timing by Venable."It was one of the best catches I've seen to save a game. It's as simple as that. It's a game-saving catch," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy after the game.To matters even sweeter for Venable, the Padres would score the winning run in the 13th.

Reds-Royals Game Canceled After Aroldis Chapman hit in face with liner (Video)

Reds closer Aroldis Chapman was carried off the field on a stretcher Wednesday night after being struck in the face by a liner off the bat of Salvador Perez of the Royals. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer, suffered a cut and contusion above his left eye but thankfully never lost consciousness. With two outs and the bases loaded in the sixth inning, Perez hit a 99-mph fastball up the middle and appeared to hit Chapman in the face. Medical personnel ran out immediately to the mound after Chapman went down and soon after officials cancelled the game.Reds announcers reported Perez "flinched" after seeing the liner hit Chapman in the forehead. Alex Cobb Hit In Head By Line Drive

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Alex Cobb was taken off the field on a stretcher after he was hit on the right ear by a liner off the bat of Kansas City's Eric Hosmer in the fifth inning of Saturday's game. Cobb put a hand on his head after being struck. Trainers from both teams and other medical staff immediately ran onto the field. Cobb could be seen kicking his legs while being examined on the mound. The Rays announced that Cobb remained conscious the whole time and was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg for further examination.Cobb, who was drafted out of high school by the Rays in the fourth round back in 2006, cracked the majors in 2011 and had made 44 starts for the franchise before his Saturday afternoon outing. After delivering the pitch, Cobb had no time to react as the ball was scorched off Hosmer's bat. The ball ricocheted off Cobb's head and back to catcher Jose Lobaton, who fired to first to complete the out.In the aftermath we've also learned one other piece of information that was really very cool. According to multiple reports at the ballpark, the entire Rays starting rotation along with former teammate James Shields, who now pitches for Kansas City, met Cobb in the tunnel to wish him well before he was loaded into the ambulance. That was really very cool of all of them, and I think it shows you the strength of solidarity that not only goes along with sharing a clubhouse in the big leagues, but to a certain extent I think it shows there's an even stronger bond shared by pitchers. No one understands the pressures and dangers of their job quite like another pitcher would, so it's only natural they stick together.
