Villanova crying piccolo player visibly upset after Wildcats are upset video

Making a strong case that No. 8 NC State's win over No. 1 Villanova was in fact the most upsetting upset of the NCAA College Basketball Tournament, a piccolo player for the Wildcats cried her way through a song played following her team's heartbreaking loss.As the game ended, TBS’ cameras panned to a girl in Villanova’s band playing the flute piccolo. She couldn’t control the tears rolling down her cheeks.Surely fans across America will keep this in mind and be good sports when ribbing that person in their pool who has a completely annihilated bracket. The Wildcats couldn't hit their shots when it mattered down the stretch vs. the Wolfpack, but at least one member of the Villanova University Band tried her best to hit a high note for VU fans as their offseason began earlier than they would have wanted.

UFC 185 : Joanna Jedrzejczyk def. Carla Esparza second-round TKO

Joanna Jedrzejczyk might have been one of the only people in the building who believed that she had what it took to dethrone UFC women’s strawweight champion Carla Esparza. Maybe that’s because she knew something most didn’t, and it started with her stellar takedown defense. After shutting down nearly every attempt by Esparza (10-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) to get the fight to the floor, Jedrzejczyk (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) unloaded on the champ with sharp jabs and stinging right hands, hammering away until referee Don Turnage was eventually forced to call a stop to the bout at 4:17 of Round 2, making Jedrzejczyk the new UFC women’s 115-pound champ. The two spend about 30 seconds sizing each other up before any action. Alistair Overeem defeats Roy Nelson UFC 185

DALLAS – Alistair Overeem pummeled Roy Nelson’s body and slipped away from his haymakers en route to a unanimous decision victory. It was a sharp, tactical performance that saw Overeem (39-14 MMA, 4-3 UFC) survive a late knockdown to hold on for the win over a battered and weathered Nelson (20-11 MMA, 7-7 UFC), taking home a trio of 30-27 scores. The fight started quite slowly as the two men felt each other out, and it took 50 seconds for Overeem to finally do anything. But once he got going, he really put it on Nelson over the course of the first round. Basically he used three weapons - oblique kicks, outside leg kicks, and knees. Lots, and lots of knees. Nelson cornered him once and beat him up a bit, but it was his only meaningful offense of the round.Herb Dean is the ref. Heavyweights following up the flyweights. Could be quick. They touch gloves. Reem in the orthodox stance. Oblique kick to the thigh from Overeem. Nelson trying to wade into striking range, half-protecting his head, trying to get inside the 8-inch reach advantage. Big overhand right from Nelson, doesn't get in flush. Overeem with a leg kick, and he rolls back out. Nelson tries a body punch, but no mustard on it. Both guys looking to land the anvil, and Nelson comes in with with a flurry, landing a left hook. Knee to the body from Overeem, who is content to land and get out, land and get out. Repeat. Overeem picking Nelson apart at range, but now Nelson comes in with a bunch of huge shots on the fence as Overeem covers up. Overeem takes and takes, then returns fire. He's fine! Wow. Now a big leg kick momentarily doubles over Nelson, who staggers on fence. His leg is already a mess, with a welt forming. Body shot from Overeem, and just as Nelson goes low Overeem lands a knee to his upper-chest.Nelson a little unsteady on his feet, his lead leg getting brutalized. Big right hand from Overeem, and his mouthpiece comes flying out! But Overeem doesn't fall. Instead he coolly lands a body kick, and another. Same game plan for the Jackson-Winkeljohn fighter. Nelson is tough, man. He is trying to size Overeem up to land something big. Just as Nelso nwinds up, Overeem peels out of there and does a hot lap around cage, to the immense displeasure of the Dallas crowd. Overeem landed an overhand and a kick to open the round, though the better part of the first minute was spent jockeying for position. Overeem dropped Nelson with a rather vicious knee to the groin that caused a stop in the fight. Nelson went for it when the fight resumed and Overeem looked in trouble. But after landing some good shots, Nelson went for the take down rather ineffectively instead of seizing the opportunity. Overeem landed a huge kick to the head that hurt Nelson. Overeem landed another few kicks to the body. In the final seconds of the round, Nelson landed a big left hand and Overeem wound up with his back on the mat. Heat's Hassan Whiteside And Suns' Alex Len Ejected

Hassan Whiteside dunked on Alex Len during Monday night’s Heat-Suns game in Miami. Len didn’t seem to like it. Whiteside didn’t seem to like Len’s reaction. After a rebound and putback dunk from Whiteside, Len gave the Heat big man a shove to let him know it wasn't appreciated. Whiteside responded by staying low and delivering a tackle that had the two 7-footers scrapping on the ground. Earlier in the game, Whiteside came down on Len with his arm and tempers nearly flared, so this was the straw that broke the camel's back. Hassan Whiteside isn't a man who backs down from challenges. After he dunked on Alex Len's head and clipped him with his arm tonight, Len tried to throw Whiteside to the floor. Len gave Whiteside a push after he landed on top of him, and Whiteside retaliated with an NFL form tackle, going after Len's legs and grappling both of them to the ground. Teammates crowded the scene and the two were eventually separated, with minimal spillover and no participants coming off the bench.

Los Angeles police shoots homeless man pointblank

Los Angeles (AFP) - Los Angeles police officers shot dead a homeless man in an incident that was caught on video and posted online, local media reported. The graphic video, which was posted on Facebook, shows a violent altercation between a man and several officers in LA's Skid Row area near downtown. The circumstances around the shooting were not immediately clear but the video appears to show a man flailing at officers as they try to subdue him. “Drop the gun,” officers shout several times with their own guns drawn. About five shots can be heard on the video. Witnesses believed the man had been killed by police, but CBS reported he was taken to a hospital by paramedics. The Los Angeles Times later reported he was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after he arrived. An area resident, who identified himself as Booker T. Washington, said police had come by repeatedly to ask Africa to take down his tent. People are allowed to sleep on the streets from 9 p.m to 6 a.m., but they are supposed to remove their tents in the daytime, under a court agreement. Another resident also said that police had asked Africa multiple times to dismantle his tent, in accordance to a court ruling that allows folks to sleep on Skid Row at night as long as they take down their tents during the day. LAPD spokesman Sgt. Barry Montgomery said the officers were responding to a robbery call on the 500 block of San Pedro Street. No officers were hurt. The name of the victim has not been released. There will be an investigation to determine if the use of force was properly deployed.
