Ndamukong Suh Stepped on Aaron Rodgers' Injured Calf (Video) 28/12/2014

Last week, Detroit center Dominic Raiola grabbed some unwanted attention after stomping on the ankle of Chicago Bears defensive tackle Ego Ferguson. Raiola was suspended one game for his actions. In Week 17, the focus shifted to Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.This one will likely be much discussed. Aaron Rodgers has an injured calf, leaving the game at one point, and with the Lions trailing by two touchdowns and Rodgers going to the ground, Suh stepped on him.Suh has a reputation for being one of the dirtiest players in the league for repeatedly doing things like this. He is so bad that teammates have said he even does it in practice. Add to the equation that Rodgers is playing with a calf injury that was bad enough to force him to leave the game earlier, and you really have to figure Suh did it intentionally.

John Wall Vs. Quincy Acy Christmas Brawl

Quincy Acy threw a punch at John Wall during the Washington Wizards – New York Knicks Christmas Day game on ESPN. Acy hit Wall with a hard foul in the 4th and John Wall got up and shoved Acy.Both Acy and Knicks coach Derek Fisher said that Acy did not throw a punch at Wall. "I didn't throw a punch. I got up and reacted, then I just grabbed him," Acy said.Acy received a flagrant foul 2 and was ejected from the game. The league will review Acy's foul and may choose to fine or suspend him. The Knicks' next game is on Saturday against the Sacramento Kings. When asked about a possible suspension, Acy said, "I hope not. What was done wrong?" Acy explained that he was trying to foul Wall to stop the play because Knicks guard Pablo Prigioni was on the ground and the Knicks were down a man on defense.Midway though the fourth quarter, Acy knocked Wall down to the floor with a hard foul. Wall took exception to the hard foul and gave Acy a shove. After that, Acy either threw a punch or gave a hard shove. It's hard to tell. Wall got right up and shoved back, to which Acy responded by throwing a right hook that just missed the back of Wall’s head.Wall was hit with a technical foul for his retaliation, but Acy was handed a flagrant 2 and tossed from the game. It’s been that kind of season for the Knicks, who now have lost 16 of their last 17 games.

Geno Smith Gets Punched During Huge Brawl (VIDEO) Jets And Titans Fight 12/14/2014

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Titans defensive end Jurrell Casey triggered a third-quarter brawl Sunday by punching New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith in the face -- and the Jets were upset Casey wasn't ejected from the game. "I assume he's going to get quite a hefty letter [from the league]," center Nick Mangold said, by which he meant a fine from the NFL office. Only one penalty flag was thrown on the play: unnecessary roughness on Casey. The fight sparked the Jets, and they rallied to beat the Titans 16-11 at LP Field in a sloppy game between two teams that began the day with 2-11 records. The misfield brawl occurred during a TV timeout, while the official reviewed an apparent 81-yard touchdown pass to Eric Decker. The replay review determined he stepped out at the 33-yard line.During a replay review Geno Smith was punched right in the helmet, apparently by Jurrell Casey, after exchanging words with several Titans players. That, obviously, prompted an immediate reaction from the Jets sideline as players rushed out to defend their quarterback, starting a large fight. Breno Giacomini and Willie Colon were among those that came after Casey, as each ran to attack the Titan who hit their quarterback. At one point Casey landed a punch on Giacomini’s helmet as well. Players from both sides were on field as different skirmishes broke out at the same time. That is indeed what happened on Sunday, and as with a few other problems the Jets have had as of late, it all had something to do with Geno Smith. After one of the plays Smith had some words with the Titans defense, which ultimately led to him getting popped in the face.Somehow, no one was ejected, and though officials overturned Decker's touchdown, they gave him a 48-yard catch, and 15 more yards on Casey's penalty for unnecessary roughness. That was the most interesting part of this game so far.

Prince William and Kate Middleton Attend Cavaliers-Nets Game 8/12/2014

Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, are in the midst of a trip to New York and decided to take in an NBA game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center. The couple's attendance was in celebration of the recently announced partnership between the Royal Foundation's United for Wildlife and Coach Core programs and the league’s NBA Cares global social responsibility program. As stated in a press release to Us Weekly, the partnership will raise awareness about the importance of international wildlife conservation, develop the next generation of conservation leaders, and grow the game of basketball. The royal couple will also meet with President Barack Obama on their U.S. tour. Count the president as another dignitary who has come to witness James play in person.ames told reporters he has only seen Will and Kate "on television and the Internet and things, just like the rest of you," and hopes to get a personal audience with the pair at Barclays Center. "I would like to," James said. "They are going to be at the game so hopefully I get the opportunity to interact with them a little bit. We'll see what happens." Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving joked that he owns a DVD of the prince and duchess' royal wedding from back in April, 2011."It will be great to see them in person," Irving said. "I mean, for me, seeing celebrities in person is awesome. I don't really know too much about them, but they're celebrities in our world so I guess it's great to see them." The Duke and Duchess were expected to arrive in New York on Sunday. Prince William has a meeting scheduled with President Obama at the White House today to discuss illegal wildlife trading, then it’s back to New York for the Cavs game. Their entire visit will last three days. James has a small ownership stake in the England soccer team Liverpool, but said he has never met the royal family. The Cavs will again be without Mike Miller, who is still recovering from a concussion. Miller rejoined the team in New York this weekend, but stayed behind at the team hotel while the players practiced Sunday. Matthew Dellavedova participated in practice, but it’s unclear if he’ll play. Dellavedova has missed the last month with a sprained ligament in his knee. Speaking before the team practiced Sunday, Blatt wasn’t sure how much work the Cavs would get in on the cramped practice court at Baruch College, leaving it difficult to determine if Delly would be able to play.Well I've had people from all across the board as far as stature, but the President of the United States, that was pretty huge. To have those two, to say they were traveling here and one of the things that they wanted to do was see me play, it's a pretty big deal in my household. The two sat with NBA legend Dikembe Mutombo during the game.

Robbie Lawler def. Johny Hendricks (Robbie Lawler New Champion) UFC 181

Hendricks was out quickly in the final frame but Lawler answered back. It took just 30 seconds for the champion to shoot for a takedown this time, and the crowd showered him with boos for it. He managed to work nearly a minute off the clock before the referee called for a separation. It didn't take long, however, for Hendricks to simply grab another takedown and force another stalemate. The referee allowed just about the same amount of time to go by before separating the two again.Lawler came out quickly swinging right for the fences. Lawler landed some big knees to the body that hurt Hendricks early. Lawler was giving Hendricks no room to breathe and kept the pressure on early. Lawler grabbed a hold of the clinch to set up his knees and Hendricks attempted to change levels for a takedown. Lawler landed a short elbow with his back to the cage. Hendricks started smothering Lawler against the cage as he continued searching for the takedown. Lawler landed a knee to the head as he continued to fight off Hendricks’ takedowns. Hendricks was relentless, however, but he was unable to do anything. Lawler was really finding a home for his knees to the body. Lawler attempted an elbow down the center, but Hendricks stopped the shot and started uncorking some heavy leg kicks. Hendricks started to find more success with his combinations and Lawler backed to the cage. With Lawler’s back to the cage, Hendricks started to once again look for a takedown. Hendricks put Lawler on his but, but was unable to get his back on the mat. Lawler was able to get back to his feet after avoiding damage and Lawler delivered a huge kick to the face.Lawler opened up with the front kick to the body. Hendricks answered with an impressive one-two combination that was capped off with an outside leg kick. Hendricks seemed to calm down and settle into his rhythm at the midway point of the fight, while Lawler seemed to continue holding back. With Hendricks gaining momentum, Lawler needed to mount some offense. Lawler appeared to be taking the round off and it was all Hendricks as the champion peppered away at the challenger.Lawler’s charge followed a listless performance in the third and round as Hendricks frequently beat him to the punch with sharp combinations. Hendricks was the more active fighter with a stiff left jab and combinations punctuated by attacks to Lawler’s lead leg. After the first fight netted a total of 308 significant strikes landed, the rematch saw 226 between the two, according to official UFC stat provider FightMetric. Lawler edged Hendricks 57 percent to 48 percent in the category.Hendricks was injured in that fight and hadn’t fought since. Lawyer however got right back in the cage. He knocked out Jake Ellenberger in May and won a decision over Matt Brown in July to earn the rematch against Hendricks. The welterweight title fight wasn’t the only one on the card Saturday. Anthony Pettis defended his lightweight title for the first time against number one contender, Gilbert Melendez. Pettis was long considered one of the biggest rising stars in the sport and that potential was finally realized last August when he defeated Benson Henderson to become the lightweight champion.Hendricks, meanwhile, suffers just the third loss of his professional career including a controversial split-call loss to now-retired champ Georges St-Pierre, which set up the March bout with Lawler for the vacant belt.

UFC 181 Anthony Pettis def. Gilbert Melendez submission (mounted guillotine choke) – R2

Gilbert Melendez showed Anthony Pettis no fear in their UFC lightweight title bout on Saturday night. Melendez pressed forward for the bulk of the fight and won the first round. But he walked right into a big right hand early in the second round. Before you could blink, Pettis caught Melendez in a guillotine choke and became the first person ever to submit the former Strikeforce champion. Pettis, defending his title for the first time 15 months after winning it, got the tap at 1:33 of the second round in the co-feature of UFC 181 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.Melendez pushed forward just 10 seconds into the fight, clinching Pettis up against the fence and looking for a takedown. Pettis stayed upright, then threw a right high kick. But Melendez blocked it, then briefly took the champion down. Melendez threw knees as he looked to turn it into a grinding fight. It took Pettis a couple minutes, but he finally broke free. But it was Melendez putting pressure on, coming forward quickly, then again taking Pettis down. Once Pettis was back up, he looked for spinning kicks and landed. But once again, Melendez was all over him. With a minute left, the two briefly traded in the center of the cage, and it was Pettis who broke off and looked to land a flying knee. But it was a clear first round for the challenger.Again in the second, Melendez came out swinging. The champion threw back, but Melendez gave chase, winging punches and again pushing Pettis to the cage. Melendez continued to work punches to the body, but Pettis cracked him with a left hand, and as Melendez dropped down, Pettis caught him in a guillotine choke. Pettis was tagged by Melendez after the challenger cut off his angle and Pettis caught Melendez with a quick shot. However, Melendez quickly recovered and continued to use his grinding style to keep Pettis up against the fence. Melendez unloaded with some body shots and was baiting Pettis in to a slugfest. Pettis got Melendez with a left and then dropped down for a guillotine. Pettis locked the guillotine in and forced Melendez to tap.
