Video Fernando Torres Scratches Jan Vertonghen's Face

Torres scratches Vertonghen Tottenham 1-1 Chelsea Premier League Fernando Torres and Jan Vertonghen had a ding-dong battle in the London derby today. It was full-blooded, aggressive, and in Torres' case, a bit catty -- in fact Torres could have easily been sent off for his bizarre and truly evil face scratch earlier. But the incident that saw Torres sent off was an innocuous one, both players going in fairly for an aerial ball, and clashing 50-50. The Spurs defender, who pulled down an opponent's shorts earlier in the week, brought out an aggression and fury that has been largely missing from Torres' game since he joined Chelsea and as a result, the Chelsea striker played with an edge to his game. Unfortunately for Torres, this gave the referee an excuse to send him off for doing nothing wrong. This GIF shows Torres apparently clawing the face of Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen. That episode earned him a yellow card. A second yellow and a red followed after an aerial challenge later in the second half. The coming together was the first of a handful of incidents between the pair, before Torres finally took it a little too far and was sent off for clashing with Vertonghen during a battle for a high ball. The catty row will now see Torres sit out the next game through suspension, and the cheeky scratch could also land him in hot water with the FA, if it decides to take retrospective action.

LeBron James Got Angry At Mario Chalmers During Timeout Video

Members of the Miami Heat lost their cool on Wednesday night in a game against the Indiana Pacers. LeBron James and Mario Chalmers had to be separated during a timeout.Chalmers, dubbed the "the most-yelled-at man in the NBA" in 2012 because of the way his superstar teammates treat him, enraged James during the third quarter of a nationally televised matchup of the top two teams in the East on Wednesday night. Although it looked like James might knock out Chalmers at one point, it was the Pacers who seemed to ultimately pay the price. The trouble for Chalmers -- and perhaps the Pacers -- began when James took exception to a defensive miscommunication that freed up Paul George to stretch Indiana's lead to 63-49 with a wide-open three-point shot with 7:56 remaining in the third quarter.During a timeout in the first quarter, Heat point guard Mario Chalmers was saying something to LeBron James, and at the end of the conversation, the reigning NBA MVP angrily stood up and got in Chalmers’ face. Luckily for the Heat, veteran forward Udonis Haslem pulled James back before he got too close to his point guard. Later in the game, James was seen apologizing to Chalmers for his outburst.

Emotional Mariano Rivera Crying at his farewell goodbye last game

NEW YORK -- Mariano Rivera said goodbye to Yankee Stadium with hugs, tears and cheers. Baseball's most acclaimed relief pitcher made an emotional exit in his final appearance in the Yankees' home pinstripes, when captain Derek Jeter and Andy Pettitte came to the mound to remove him with two outs in the ninth inning of a 4-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night."It's time to go," Jeter appeared to tell Rivera.Rivera, who retired four straight batters, wiped his eyes with both arms as he walked off and blew a kiss to the first row behind the Yankees dugout. He hugged a tearful Girardi in the dugout, grabbed a towel to dab his own tears, and came out again and doffed his cap to the crowd. All the while, the Rays remained in their dugout applauding.Throughout the stands, fans blinked back tears.Rivera received a rare shout out from the Bleacher Creatures, who closed their nightly roll call with the chant of "Ma-ri-a-no!" before he tipped his cap from the dugout. The Rays took a 4-0 lead with two runs in the eighth against Dellin Betances, and with runners at first and second and one out, Joe Girardi called on the all-time saves leader to get out of the jam. Rivera jogged in from the bullpen as a recording of Bob Sheppard announced his entrance. The crowd stood and applauded - as did the Rays, who emerged from their dugout to give the closer a standing ovation of their own.In one heck of a tactical move by Yankees manager Joe Girardi, he brought Rivera into the game one last time in the eighth inning (watch that below), let him retire four batters, then took him out with two outs in the ninth inning. All so Rivera could get one last ovation from Yankee fans.

Manny Machado's Leg Injury against Rays

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado suffered a major injury in his left leg after singling with one out in the top of the seventh inning against the Rays on Monday afternoon. The injury appeared to occur when Machado’s left foot hit the first-base bag, causing the lower part of his left leg to hang loose (GIF below the jump for those with weak stomachs). Machado immediately fell to the ground and grabbed his knee. It will be a while before the doctors are able to diagnose him, but this is obviously a season-ending injury and probably would be even if the end of the year wasn’t just seven days away.It appeared to be a routine groundout, but after Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Tim Beckham mishandled the ball, Machado reached safely. His knee did not. Machado's leg buckled as he rounded first base, and he went down writhing in pain.Machado immediately fell to the ground and began writhing in pain near first base. With his teammates looking on from the dugout, Machado was eventually placed on a stretcher and taken off the field.

UFC 165 Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson Full Fight

Tonight's (Sat., Sept. 21, 2013) UFC 165: "Jones vs. Gustafsson" pay-per-view (PPV) event from Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, features Jon Jones, quite possibly the sport's greatest fighter, defending his Light Heavyweight championship against Alexander Gustafsson, a relative unknown who just might have the skills to dethrone the king.In the co-main event, expected winner Renan Barao takes on Eddie Wineland. An upset in that bout would certainly make headlines, so it will be interesting to see how Barao responds in defending his interim bantamweight title. Both fighters are 26 years old, but Gustafsson has a slight height advantage at 6 ft 5 inches, compared to Jones' 6 feet 4 inches. However, in reach Jones has a clear advantage with a reach of 84.5", where as Gustafsson has a reach of just 81.2". Both weighed in at 205 lbs. Supporting Jones vs Gustafsson on the main card are a stream of other good fights that should provide fans with top entertainment. Barao vs Wineland, as well as Schaub vs Mitrione should be fantastic warm up fights.

Clemson's Isaiah Battle Ejected From Clemson-NC State For Uppercut Punch

Clemson offensive tackle Isaiah Battle was ejected late in the Tigers' win over the Wolfpack Thursday night after throwing a vicious uppercut at NC State defensive back Jarvis Byrd. Battle swung a strong shot right under the facemask of Byrd, who immediately fell to the ground. When you throw a punch like that, it is hard to disguise, and Battle was immediately ejected. Not only was Battle sent to the locker room early, but he will likely face a suspension from the ACC after they review the incident.Instead, he was removed from the game by head coach Dabo Swinney and ultimately ejected by officials. There’s no doubt the ACC will have something to say about Battle’s actions that could lead to further punishment. The punch knocked Byrd onto his back and led to a skirmish. Battle was immediately pulled from the game by Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and ejected for throwing a punch soon after. There's no word of additional penalties for the apparent sucker punch at this point.

Jurgen Klopp Epic Nervous Reaction At Referee

Borussia Dortmund experienced a nightmare start to their UEFA Champions League campaign Wednesday, losing 2-1 at Napoli. Beaten finalists last season, BVB opened the 2013-14 Champions League season with a trip to Italy to face Napoli. Put simply, things didn't go well.Inexplicably livid with Napoli’s perfectly legitimate opening goal, Klopp appeared to morph into a gurning wolverine, and was sent to the stands by the petrified fourth official before he was eaten alive by the man-beast.The Dortmund manager later went on to apologise "I made myself look like a monkey out there and that's not on," "I overstepped the mark and it was really pathetic of me" Klopp told ZDF television.Napoli, coached by Rafa Benitez, went 2-0 up through goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Lorenzo Insigne, and despite Camilo Zuniga putting through his own net, they still lost. It’s not clear if Uefa will take further action against Klopp, although the defeat and the loss of his goalkeeper Weidenfeller in a difficult Champions League group is probably enough punishment.

After Tillman saved the day, he got to lock eyes with Okmin and enjoy a sweet embrace. How cute. Maybe he will take her out for dinner later. This is just the latest incident with sideline reporters this season. Luckily for Okmin, she had Tillman there to save her or else she could have gone down harder than Pam Oliver when she took a football to the head.

Clay Matthews Late Hit On Colin Kaepernick

A late hit on quarterback Colin Kaepernick led to a scuffle between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers early in the marquee game between the two top teams. The 49ers had a third-down play deep in Green Bay territory in the second quarter, and Kaepernick scrambled to his left in an effort to reach the first down. While he went out of bounds short of the marker, Clay Matthews didn't let up on the play. After Kaepernick had stepped out of bounds, the Packers linebacker brought him down to the ground hard. Matthews dove and wrapped Kaepernick after he stepped out of bounds, slamming him to the ground. San Francisco offensive lineman Joe Staley rushed over to retaliate, causing a scuffle out of bounds. The officials called a personal foul on Matthews and penalized Staley for unsportsmanlike conduct, resulting in offsetting penalties and no play. Days before their Week 1 meeting, Matthews spoke to local media about hitting the quarterback who is running the read option. After the disregard for the rules and the obvious cheap shot that the Packers delivered to Kaepernick, you can expect to see Clay Matthews getting a letter in the mail with a hefty fine from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. At the time of this post, the 49ers were hanging on to a one touchdown lead, 14-7, with a few seconds to go in the first half.

SOUTH CAROLINA COACHES SIDELINE FIGHT

outh Carolina's playing pretty well in Athens against the Georgia Bulldogs today, so we're not sure what sparked this. Brad Nessler, as you can hear, is himself baffled. All told, the Georgia Bulldogs made five trips to the end zone in their 41-30 win. Even when the Gamecocks forced a three-and-out, the defensive coaches couldn't hide their frustration. The altercation came after South Carolina had just forced Georgia to go three and out on offense. No word yet on the reason, but hopefully it was short-lived, considering this is one of the biggest games of the season for the Gamecocks.

Fan runs on court, confronts Hawaii coach

Every once in a while, a fan will run onto the field or court during a game. Usually, the fan just runs around for fun, so it's a pretty rare sight to see one angrily confront a player or coach. After Hawaii coach Gib Arnold was assessed a technical foul during tonight’s game against UC Santa Barbara, a Gauchos fan ran onto the court to confront him. Hawaii’s players had to literally push away the spectator from their coach. The COME AT ME BRO-ish backpedal is kinda frightening. This is not an individual in his right mind. And then he just turns around and leaves, as if to return to his seat.

Munchie Legaux Leg Injury During Game Vs. Illinois

Cincinnati's Munchie Legaux suffered a serious leg injury during a game against Illinois on Saturday and was hospitalized. Legaux was trying to lead a fourth quarter comeback as Cincinnati trailed 31-17 against an Illinois team that struggled to put away an FCS team last week. As he got rid of a pass, he was sandwiched by a pair of Illinois defenders. (That's a link to a .GIF of him being hit. We opted not to post it here, because it's rather gruesome.) He immediately went down, and everybody around the Illini's stadium quickly realized the severity of the injury.Kay was the projected starter entering August but was slowed by shoulder fatigue, allowing Legaux to reclaim his spot in the starting lineup.Illinois would score 14 points after Legaux's injury, beating Cincinnati 45-17 to move to 2-0. The 28-point win provided the program's largest margin of victory since beating Purdue 44-10 on Oct. 30, 2010.Legaux was hit by two Illinois defenders as he was delivering a pass and immediately went to the ground. Players who were near him instantly signaled for the trainers and looked horrified after seeing the damage.

Malcolm Mitchell Knee Injury

Georgia receiver Malcolm Mitchell will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday's loss at Clemson. Coach Mark Richt said Sunday that Mitchell will have season-ending surgery "in the near future."Mitchell, the leading returning receiver for the No. 5 Bulldogs, hurt his knee when celebrating with a teammate following Todd Gurley's 75-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. No. 8 Clemson beat Georgia 38-35. "He actually hurt it in the exuberance of the first touchdown of the game for us," Richt said on a conference call. "He went to congratulate his teammate and I think they jumped up and chest-bumped or whatever and it ended up that he landed in a bad way. So he knew something happened. " Georgia head coach Mark Richt confirmed to media members after the game that Mitchell's injury was serious, but he did not know the full extent of it. Mitchell was Georgia's leading returning receiver from last season, when he caught 40 passes for 572 yards and four touchdowns. The junior from Valdosta, Ga., was named to the preseason watch lists for both the Paul Hornung and Biletnikoff Awards. He had great speed and quickness and would snatch the ball and get up field. He’s a great competitor and actually hurt it in the exuberance of the first touchdown of game for us.” Junior Michael Bennett ended up taking most of the snaps in Mitchell’s split-end position the rest of Saturday’s game. But Richt wasn’t sure exactly how the Bulldogs will lineup against South Carolina this weekend. Bennett led Georgia receivers with five catches for 60 yards. Justin-Scott Wesley had four for 55 and Chris Conley had three for 67. Junior college transfer Jonathan Rumph is expected to return from injury this week as well.
