Devon Walker Injury

Certain events make you forget the game at hand, and Tulane safety Devon Walker's injury against Tulsa on Saturday falls in that tragic category.

Walker was injured in a head-to-head collision with his teammate Julius Warmsley while trying to attempt a tackle at the end of the first half. KTUL-TV reporter John Moss had some news concerning the senior safety's condition.Medical personnel from both teams came out about 12:37 p.m. to attend to Walker as he lay on the field.

Savoie said after the game that Walker "actually never completely lost consciousness" and was breathing.

About 12:52 p.m., he was lifted onto a stretcher and loaded into a waiting ambulance about two minutes later. The ambulance drove off the field about 1 p.m.

FOX Sports reported a hush went over the crowd at H.A. Stadium as Walker was attended to on the field, and that several coaches were in tears. Spectators bowed their heads as someone on the field led the stadium in prayer.I had a difficult time watching the second half of Tulane's game against Tulsa. My thoughts and prayers were with Devon as the action continued on the field. I thought the FOX Sports crew did a great job of balancing the play-by-play with the gravity of Walker's situation. And the Tulsa players and coaches also showed a lot of class.

The thoughts and prayers of all Green Wave fans, alumni, and others are with you, Devon. You exemplify the excellence that is Tulane University. Stay strong.
