UFC 168 : Anderson Silva Suffers Gruesome Leg Injury Against Chris Weidman Fight

Anderson Silva, the longtime former UFC Middleweight champion, lost against current Middleweight champion Chris Weidman on Saturday night during UFC 168. He appeared to fracture his ankle in half, leading to a TKO loss. Silva went in for a kick during the second round but then immediately collapsed on the ground in agony holding his leg.Weidman (11-0) quietly celebrated his victory while medical personnel tended to Silva (33-6), whose left shin bent grotesquely while landing a kick on Weidman's left leg 1:16 into the round.Weidman started working his ground-and-pound and Silva ate serious shots that caused his head to bounce off the canvas. Silva stayed busy on the bottom and even landed a couple hammerfists, but those were the only significant strikes he landed in the first round. The round ended with Weidman postured over Silva looking to pound his face in, but the horn sounded. Anderson Silva walked into the middle of the octagon at the start of round two just as calm as he was in the first, which was impressive for the amount of punishment he took. Silva landed the first shot of the round in the form of a lightning quick leg kick. Weidman landed a body kick that forced Silva to retaliate with a leg kick of his own. Weidman, 29, has improved to 11-0 with the victory and Silva has fallen to 33-6. In his victory speech, Weidman praised Silva’s title run and career.
