Taylor Swift hit the stage at the 2013 Country Music Awards in Nashville on Wednesday night, performing a special rendition of “Red” with country singers Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Sam Bush, bassist Edgar Meyer and percussionist Eric Darken. The 23-year-old singer, who finally burst into tears during the last second of her speech, took care to individually thank country music’s elite who presented her with the award – George Strait, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley — for everything they taught her on her ascent to becoming the most famous young country star of this generation.“Congratulations on this well-deserved pineapple award” joked Ellen Degeneres at one point. “Pinnacle Award. Now that makes more sense,” she corrected.
Swift took the stage to accept the award from a stage full of country super stars, including Urban, McGraw, Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, and George Strait.
“My parents are not just crying, they are actually bawling at this point,” she said before continuing to thank the awards committee and her fans.
