OSCAR Academy Awards 2013


LOS ANGELES — Christoph Waltz really owes Quentin Tarantino. Waltz won his second supporting-actor Academy Award on Sunday for a Tarantino film, this time as a genteel bounty hunter in the slave-revenge saga "Django Unchained." In a choked voice, Waltz offered thanks to his character and "to his creator and the creator of his awe-inspiring world, Quentin Tarantino." Waltz also offered gracious thanks to his supporting-actor competitors, who included two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and Oscar recipient Tommy Lee Jones, who had been considered a slim favorite over Waltz for the prize.Animated Feature Film: "Brave." Cinematography: "Life of Pi."Visual Effects: "Life of Pi."Costume: "Anna Karenina." Makeup and Hairstyling: "Les Miserables."Live Action Short Film: "Curfew."Documentary (short subject): "Inocente.""Silver Linings Playbook" and "Zero Dark Thirty." Going into the Oscars 2013 broadcast, Ben Affleck's "Argo" was the favorite to win Best Picture, with Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" running close behind. Other expected winners included Daniel Day-Lewis (for Best Actor), Jennifer Lawrence (for Best Actress), Tommy Lee Jones (for Best Supporting Actor) and Anne Hathaway (for Best Supporting Actress). The 2013 Oscars will also include performances from Adele, Shirley Bassey, the cast of "Les Miserables," Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger and Kristen Chenoweth.
