Los Angeles Angels pitcher Garrett Richards had to be stretchered off the field Wednesday night after his right knee buckled while attempting to cover first base in the second inning against the Boston Red Sox.
Richards was hurt while covering first base following a ground ball to the right side off the bat of Brock Holt.
The severity of course isn't yet known, but the above doesn't look promising. Whatever the result, Richards's injury comes not long after the Angels lost fellow starter Tyler Skaggs to Tommy John surgery.
Richards ran to first and at some point his feet got tangled underneath him and he fell down awkwardly. He was in serious pain, screaming out loud, and definitely does grab at his left knee. Angels trainers and staff checked him out during a brief delay and he had to be carted off the field.
