Alexander Gustafsson Vs Jimi Manuwa Fight UFC Fight Night

LONDON — A rematch of 2013's "Fight of the Year" is halfway to reality, as Alexander Gustafsson (16-2 mixed martial arts, 8-2 UFC) scored a second-round TKO win over a dangerous Jimi Manuwa (14-1, 3-1). The light heavyweight bout was the main event of today's "UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Manuwa" event at O2 Arena in London. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass. The result clears the way for Gustafsson to rematch current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, should he defeat Glover Teixeira in their April meeting.Manuwa is a power man, and he has won 93 percent of his matches through knock out. That means the Swede will have to watch out in the stand up exchanges and will have to be weary about taking any clear hits. If that does happen there's every chance he could end up on his back. Gustafsson instead will be hoping to take Manuwa to the floor, where he has the clear advantage. If he can get things onto the ground then he has the necessary weaponry to claim a necessary submission. That means Manuwa will need to stay away and try to not get entangled in a scrap on the mat.In the main event, Alexander Gustafsson will square off against Jimi Manuwa in a light heavyweight showdown. Lightweights Michael Johnson and Melvin Guillard will battle in the co-main event.
