WR Victor Cruz Knee Injury Against Philadelphia

Victor Cruz has not exactly been lighting it up for the New York Giants this season, but when it comes to veteran wide receivers he is among the better ones in the league. He is certainly the best veteran receiver Eli Manning has to throw to, but it looks like he is going to have to do without him for a while. The length of the delay and the presence of the cart quickly tipped off viewers that the injury was serious, but it wasn’t until Michele Tafoya gave her sideline report that fans were alerted to how bad it really was. Whether Cruz was crying because of the intense pain, the sobering realization that his season was probably over or a combination of both, the scene was hard to watch. As the Pro Bowler was wheeled off, his arm tenderly draped around the Giants trainer, he was approached by teammates and opponents wishing him well.Late in the third quarter against the Seahawks, Cruz was injured when he went high to catch a pass from Eli Manning and landed on his head while being tackle by cornerback Jeremy Lane. Cruz was slow to get up and walked gingerly to the sideline. The 16-yard play was ruled a catch but eventually overturned on a challenge. The injury will require surgery and almost certainly keep Cruz out for the rest of the season. He will likely be placed on injured reserve. With Cruz injured, the Giants will rely on Rueben Randle and rookie first-round pick Odell Beckham at wide receiver.
