Geno Smith Gets Punched During Huge Brawl (VIDEO) Jets And Titans Fight 12/14/2014

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Titans defensive end Jurrell Casey triggered a third-quarter brawl Sunday by punching New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith in the face -- and the Jets were upset Casey wasn't ejected from the game. "I assume he's going to get quite a hefty letter [from the league]," center Nick Mangold said, by which he meant a fine from the NFL office. Only one penalty flag was thrown on the play: unnecessary roughness on Casey. The fight sparked the Jets, and they rallied to beat the Titans 16-11 at LP Field in a sloppy game between two teams that began the day with 2-11 records. The misfield brawl occurred during a TV timeout, while the official reviewed an apparent 81-yard touchdown pass to Eric Decker. The replay review determined he stepped out at the 33-yard line.During a replay review Geno Smith was punched right in the helmet, apparently by Jurrell Casey, after exchanging words with several Titans players. That, obviously, prompted an immediate reaction from the Jets sideline as players rushed out to defend their quarterback, starting a large fight. Breno Giacomini and Willie Colon were among those that came after Casey, as each ran to attack the Titan who hit their quarterback. At one point Casey landed a punch on Giacomini’s helmet as well. Players from both sides were on field as different skirmishes broke out at the same time. That is indeed what happened on Sunday, and as with a few other problems the Jets have had as of late, it all had something to do with Geno Smith. After one of the plays Smith had some words with the Titans defense, which ultimately led to him getting popped in the face.Somehow, no one was ejected, and though officials overturned Decker's touchdown, they gave him a 48-yard catch, and 15 more yards on Casey's penalty for unnecessary roughness. That was the most interesting part of this game so far.
