Chris Christie, a noted fan of The Boss (when he isn't sleeping through his concerts), probably won't love this. Last night on "Late Night," Jimmy Fallon and his guest Bruce Springsteen donned '70s-era Springsteen attire to parody the seminal New Jersey anthem, "Born to Run." Except this time, the lyrics were devoted to the "bridgegate" scandal surrounding Christie's apparently political closing of the George Washington Bridge, causing major traffic issues. The new song, titled "Gov. Christie Traffic Jam," started with Fallon — dressed as Springsteen — singing about being stuck on the George Washington Bridge for hours. He was soon joined by the real Boss."You've got Wall Street masters stuck cheek-to-cheek with blue-collar truckers," the legendary rocker, 64, sang. "And I really gotta take a leak.""The press conference went on and on," Fallon continued. "It was longer than one of my own damn shows," Springsteen jibed.
Springsteen and the E Street Band were guests on the show to promote their new album, "High Hopes," released this week.
According to The Star-Ledger, Christie has long been a fan of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer. The Republican politician said in 2012 that he'd been to 129 Springsteen concerts, and cried after getting a hug from the singer at a benefit concert for Superstorm Sandy victims in 2012."They shut down the tollbooths of glory 'cause we didn't endorse Chris Christie," Fallon and Springsteen sang. "You're killing the working man/who's stuck in Governor Christie's Fort Lee, New Jersey traffic jam."
