Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich Ejected Against Portland Trail Blazers After Yelling at Referees (Video)

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Despite getting ejected for heatedly arguing a foul and seeing Manu Ginobili strain a hamstring, San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich couldn't suppress a few smiles after the Spurs' latest home win. Tony Parker scored 20 points and Tim Duncan had 14 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks to lead San Antonio in a 106-88 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night, extending the Spurs' home winning streak to 12 games. Duncan's season-high in blocks helped the Spurs outscore the Timberwolves 54-34 in the paint and San Antonio finished with a 43-28 edge in rebounding. At the time of the ejection, the Blazers were leading 65-55. San Antonio then went on a 23-12 run to close out the third quarter, before Portland handily won the fourth quarter to pull off the road victory.Watch as Popovich argues with multiple referees in the game, leading to not one, but two technical fouls. Coach Pop was then ejected and had to leave the game. The scene wasn’t what you’d typically expect to see out of Popovich has he absolutely went bananas and lost his mind when trying to talk to the officials. Popovich had to be restrained and even then he was feisty enough to break free and come at the referees yet again. Popovich was ejected and escorted off the court, and while the Spurs aren’t the type of team to have these kinds of fits, Popovich has earned the right to a few blowups now and again — but still, this was insane to see.
