After being away from the sport for nearly four years, former WWE and world heavyweight champion Batista won the 30-man over-the-top-rope Battle Royal at the 2014 Royal Rumble on Sunday, Jan. 26.Batista entered the Rumble at No. 28, and outlasted Roman Reigns to win the epic event.Reigns broke the record for the most eliminations in the Royal Rumble and had the crowd behind him at the end of the night. When Rey Mysterio came out at No. 30 instead of Daniel Bryan, Mysterio -- normally a fairly over babyface -- was booed heavily.The rumble came to an end quickly after it was down to the final two. Reigns was on a record run of eliminating 12 men in the contest but wasn’t able to get the 13th that would’ve punched his ticket. He tried to whip Batista over the rope.
Instead, Batista reversed and threw him over the top rather effortlessly to win the match and a trip to WrestleMania XXX and the main event for the WWE title.
